Obamacare – and Healthcare.gov is STILL not working

Obamacare -Year of the SnakeThe question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.”
-President Barack Obama, inauguration, 1/20/09

So, not only are Obamacare high deductible costs making people put off needed procedures, Obama’s signature policy’s Shiny Object, healthcare.gov is STILL not finished even four years after the Law being signed and over $2 billion spent:

OBAMACARE’S BACK-END STILL NOT BUILT; OFFICIALS VERIFYING APPLICATIONS BY HAND

Obamacare was signed into law four years and eight months ago, yet the highly unpopular program’s back-end computer systems still remain unbuilt.  The problem is so bad, health officials have been forced to perform some verifications by hand.  “Health insurers have been exasperated by the delays, as health officials verify some account and application details by hand,” reports The Hill.

The front end, the part you see, was the easier part.  This backend where all of the highly personal information is kept by HHS and the IRS, the information pulled from providers, codes, procedures, cross matched against [ever changing, it seems] regulations get cross checked – and the IRS subsidies calculated and providers paid.  That is, if the verifications pass muster – and it is clear that the government project management of this entire fiasco has been just that – a rolling fiasco.  Just one more datum that says that an activist government is also way that fails more often than a limited one simply because it doesn’t realize how much it can’t bite off and, you know, actually do the job it has promised to do.
