Last night after the Grand Jury’s findings resulted in no indictment for Officer Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown; protesters in Ferguson, Missouri took to the streets. They did not peacefully protest the results but destroyed their community. They burned down businesses, cars and anything they felt like burning down. The protesters looted and destroyed the businesses they didn’t burn.
An elderly man on oxygen was carjacked and then run over with his car according to a CBS news reporter on the scene. Shots rang out across the city and many were injured. What exactly did the rioting achieve? Absolutely nothing but to further devastate the black community.
According to a Breitbart report, many of the businesses that were destroyed were owned by minorities. People who employed others while providing goods and/or services to their community. These business owners are waking up this morning to find their livelihoods have been crushed. Their employees will no longer be earning a paycheck because they do not have a place to work.
Yes insurance will eventually kick in and yes the employees will be able to get unemployment (not nearly as much as a paycheck) but neither of these things happen overnight. In the meantime, these people have families to feed; rent and mortgages to pay and jobs they no longer can go to. The businesses will be closed and people in the community will have to find alternative means to get the things they need in order to take care of their families.
The rioting and destruction of Ferguson didn’t bring Michael Brown back nor did it change the Grand Jury’s decision not to indict. All it did was wreak havoc on the lives of those living in the community, while race baiters like Al Sharpton sat back in their mansions watching the chaos sipping champagne. Rather than try to heal the community, Sharpton incited the riots. Many media outlets were also complicit in the violence by failing to report the facts and stoking racial division. Once again, the Black Community has self-destructed with the aid of people that claim to care about it. Will they ever learn?
