And Then There Was One (Tappet Brother)

I came to America in 1985 and actually listened to WBUR (National Proletarian Radio outlet) for several years of commuting around Boston’s routes 128 and 495. The news and opinion needed to be taken with a large pinch of salt and one’s liberal bias detector fully operational, but there was one show which was at it’s zenith during that period – CAR TALK hosted by Tom and Ray Magliozzi, AKA Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, which needed no such filters.

This light-hearted program offered a unique mix of practical mechanical advice and quirky humor, and was always a delight to listen to, as they made fun of the vehicles, their callers, and themselves every week. I was, therefore, saddened to read, this week, of the death of brother Tom from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Knowing that this duo were irreverent to the last, I offer a great cartoon by Robert Arial:RobertArial-20141105-TomRayGod
