NH1 Debate between Guinta & Shea-Porter: the Progressive “everyone’s a victim including shoplifters”

To be free to choose implies acceptance of the results of choices made, which means, in turn, that there should be no assignment of blame to others, including the state, if these choices turn out to have been wrong.  – James Buchanan

NH1 logoI think I may be shifting over to WBIN / NH1 (Bill Binnie’s nascent media empire – the TV version) for watching the political debates for one simple reason: they are willing to share their video and allow folks like us to embed them.  WMUR – not so much as unless I wanna spend a goodly amount of time sussing out their HTML / CSS / Java code, it’s very difficult to find the actual references to their video (a “coding” paywall, if you would).

Anyways, they are running their debates and and I watched the Guinta / SEUI-Porter one.  I’m actually re-listening to it as I’m trying to find 1 sentence that CSP uttered but I came across this one *here, 8:39):

So when you pick somebody up, so when they just shoplifted at, say, Walmart or Wahlgreen’s, look at them and figure out, ascertain, if there is a reason that is drug related and get them into early treatment.

After all, it is NEVER anybody’s fault that they just went and  took something that isn’t theirs.  This is a PERFECT expression of the Progressive / Democrat identity politics and its ramification:

Nobody is EVER at fault for what they do and it must ALWAYS be a function of Government to mitigate any bad consequence

Unless, of course, it’s the “horrible TEA Party” to which all evil must be ascribed because, you know, they represent the EVIL that is self-responsibility and the HERESY that Govt could be more effective if it just stayed within its Constitutional boundaries.  But that, according to all of the Democrat candidates – is EXTREMIST (for Govt should NEVER be cut – Holy be its name!).  Given that they blame everything on the TEA Party, they wouldn’t know a true TEA Party Principle if they tripped over it.

Er, actually I do think they know and are still truly scared of us because down in their tiny little heart of hearts, they agree with us but because they can’t take self-responsibility, they have to say otherwise….

But there she goes again!  She also said (11:00) “Addicts don’t have money to buy health insurance and so we have to take care of them”.  Actually, Carol, if I can strip away all of the Political Correctness in which you wish to wrap them up –  they do have money (else how could they obtain their drugs) but the important point is that they make decision with the monies they do have for OTHER things rather than health insurance.  Once again, you see the display of “victimhood” on the part of this uber-Progressive as in:

“look at these ‘children’ – *I* can make the good choice for them that they cannot make for themselves.”

The severe, overly broad, and destructive  ramification of this view is:

  • ALL of the rest of you are children and we MUST tell you all how to live
  • And, oh yes, you will have NO choice but to obey – and you will be forced to help.

And thus, Carol, those two things are amongst the TWO biggest reasons why you and yours are getting to be so resented by us that refuse to be viewed as children.
