Ebola – Headlines that kinda dispell the “All is Well! happy talk from Obama Administration

No, not trying to go all Drudge, but face it, all we’ve heard from the Obama and his Administration was 1) No, Ebola will not come to the US (2 weeks later, er…), 2) Trust us, we got this (and then got surprised by the late Mr. Duncan who brought it to Dallas and just walked about for a while).  So a couple of headlines from Lucianne.com caught my eye and I could only shake my head – do they give you the warm and fuzzies that this Administration is 1) actually has been telling us the truth and 2) are going to let the US get WAY caught behind because the Obama Administration doesn’t do “leading from the front”?

Does Obama really even know what he’s talking about?

Obama: You Can´t Get Ebola ´Sitting Next to Someone on a Bus;´ CDC: ´Avoid Public Transportation

Speaking in a video message to residents of West African countries currently experiencing outbreaks of Ebola, President Barack Obama dispensed advice on how residents can avoid the disease, including: “You cannot get it through casual contact like sitting next to someone on a bus.”

At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is advising Americans who travel to the Ebola-stricken nations to “avoid public transportation.”

And then there’s the “Protection is Number One, but we’re gonna allow thousands from West Africa just walk around freely”:

CDC: 150 People Enter U.S. Per Day from Ebola-Stricken Countries–or 4,500 Per Month

…Given the 21-day incubation period for Ebola and the 150 people coming in each day, that means that at any given time there could be 21 x 150 people in the U.S. who could be asymptomatically incubating Ebola, and who are free to wander around the country. That is 3,150 people who at any moment could become symptomatic anywhere in the country and start exposing people.

…The Obama administration has ruled out a travel ban or even a quarantine on travelers arriving from West Africa: “We need airlines to continue to operate in West Africa; and we need borders to remain open,” Secretary of State John Kerry said on Wednesday.  Hours later, Frieden stressed that “protecting Americans is our number one priority.”

That’s comforting.  But if I was on this jet, this would not have been:

“I have Ebola,” says passenger flying from Philadelphia who sparked scare, says report

A sneezing passenger traveling from Philadelphia to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic put passengers and airport officials on alert when he claimed that he had Ebola, according to a report from the Diario Libre newspaper in Santo Domingo.

“I have Ebola, you are all screwed,” the 54-year-old male U.S. Airways passenger said, according to the report.

But before he got to the Dominican Republic, he was in the US – for how long (if true)?  And back a few days, the White House Journalists showed what they REALLY think:

We’re Screwed
