NHGOP: A Party Afraid Of Its Grassroots

For today’s Kangaroo Konvention of the NHGOP, called at 9 days notice (not even business days), without regard for proper communication with new delegates minted on September 9th, the NHGOP has moved to remove all contentious proposals from the table, for fear that they might actually be popular enough to get into the Party Platform.

You know – actual conservative positions: Liberty, Responsibility, Morality, etc. Other writers here have listed the missing items, and will no doubt post the specious arguments used by the Chair and her overlord(s) to remove these proposals in the first place, and to ignore petitions for their re-instatement into today’s deliberations.

The whole thing reminds me of the Rush Limbaugh anecdote where he was attending an event in the Hamptons, and a Party bigwig poked him in the chest and asked: “What are YOU going to do about the Christians?!”

This, in a nutshell, is the failure of the GOP these past 50 years – far from its roots as the defenders of our Constitutional Republic, individual liberty and personal responsibility, it has become the Dole-ful shadow of its former self, the party of Milquetoast McConnell instead of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. The enablers and tax collectors for the Welfare State!

Where giants once roamed the USA, we have moral dwarves controlled by malignant gnomes behind the scenes. If the Party does not mend its ways, it is in for a Stark future!
