Jeanne Shaheen is a hypocrite. But you knew that. She objects to domestic energy but takes money from petroleum lobbyists. She plays the party line on CO2, but parties with left-coast hedge fund managers who get rich on thermal coal. She complains about SuperPAC’s and outside money but does not object to Billionaire Tom Steyer spending tens of thousands on ads to support her campaign. She rails on the Koch brothers but takes money from Senators who take money from the Koch brothers…
And now we learn that she is heavily invested in and profiting from the fourth largest oil company on the entire planet.
The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that Shaheen has between $50,000.00 and $100,000.00 dollars in stock with S.A. Total, a French Oil Company. Not even American Jeanne? Is that off-shoring?
Fourth largest oil company on planet earth? Is that Big Oil, Jeanne? I thinks it’s bigger than big. I’m thinking Global Oil, here.
And yes, it gets better.
The company has come under fire from regulators in recent years, agreeing to pay the SEC and Department of Justice nearly $400 million in fines in 2013 after admitting to bribing Iranian official in exchange for access to two oil fields. The $60 million payoff netted the company $150 million in profits from 1995 to 2004.
Senator ‘Greene’ Jeanne Shaheen has quietly been invested in a corrupt global oil giant that bribes a global sponsor of terrorism for fun and profit. Something she has been on the record opposing in public.
Shaheen, a member of the Senate foreign relations committee, has called on European companies to curb trade delegations to the Iranian regime to avoid undermining U.S. sanctions. She criticized European companies for attempting to establish financial ties while Iran pursues nuclear technology, saying she was “deeply troubled” by reports that European countries were sending “the message to Tehran that sanctions are abating.”
What sort of message is Senator Shaheen sending when she talks out one side of her mouth while profiting from the very things she speaks against behind her constituents backs. What is the message to voters, who hear her railing on her opponents about ‘big oil’ and how we need to get away from carbon energy while she slides easily into comfortable relationships with billionaires who profited from carbon energy?
You do with less, pay more for oil and gas, struggle to heat your home, pay rising energy prices and taxes…while she profits.
Instead of expanding US production to create thousands of good paying American jobs (even union jobs), that would help families, increase state tax coffers and federal alike, and grow our economy, she opposes oil production, rails on any plans to expand exploration or development in the US, while investing heavily to grow jobs and opportunities for a foreign Oil giant? (Any chance they have lots of connections in Turkey Democrat Governor Maggie “Fracking” Hassan?)
Jeanne Shaheen is a hypocrite, and a fraud. But you probably knew that.
