Why can’t they fund themselves instead of sucking off the [broke] Govt teat?

Tree Care Industry Association logoSo how much money flowed out of NH simply for the Feds to take their take in order to return it back?

Tree Group Getting $140,000 Grant to Teach Landscaping Safety

A New Hampshire group is receiving nearly $140,000 from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to help provide training in the landscaping and tree care industries in electrical hazards and aerial lift safety.  The Tree Care Industry Association will be assisting workers and employers.  A total of 78 nonprofit organizations are receiving over $10 million in funds through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, including community- and faith-based groups, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor-management associations, and colleges and universities.

The programs educate workers and employers in industries with high injury, illness and fatality rates; underserved youth; limited English proficiency and other vulnerable workers; and small businesses.

Being a Free Market guy, I keep wondering:

WHY can’t the members of this industry group FUND ITSELF to do its training FOR ITS OWN BENEFIT??  Why should they depend on the redistribution of other peoples’ money to them to take care of themselves – a private profit making entity?  Why can’t they properly train their own people (and for that matter, most other entities as well)?

We are a $17 Trillion in debt nation – seriously, we can afford this?  Or do we just blithely continue on our merry deluded way in pretending (as in Animal House) “All is Well!”?  When are we all gonna learn that in keeping to put out the begging hand, its gonna get cut off at the wrist when the money runs out?  Why should regular folks be taxed for the benefit of a very few?

Just like when I was on my hamlet’s Budget Committee, when confronted with “would you pay for your professional society’s dues if it had to come out of your own pocket?”, only one head of a department said yes.  Even though it was for their own benefit.  Same deal here – why should we pay something like this?

For as the enviro-wackos keep saying “This lifestyle is not sustainable”.  In passing the money out, and out again, and again, and again…..we will run out.  Then what will these (and all the other) beggars do?
