A few years ago, Warren Buffet thought Obama was the messiah, and even campaigned for the nebulous ‘rich’, which always seems to include the middle class, to pay more in taxes, “Because my secretary pays a higher tax rate than I do”.

What a difference a few years makes! Turns out that Buffet was never shy about utilizing any legally available loopholes to reduce his, and his investors’ taxes, but now he’s taken it to a whole new level…

As we mentioned a couple of days back (The King Hears a Horton), Burger King has decided to make a run for Canada’s lower corporate tax rates (that’s right, formerly socialist Canada is steadily lowering corporate taxes), before crazies like Dick Turban erect our very own Iron Curtain to keep them from leaving.

But wait, there’s more! Obama’s favorite champion of higher taxes is BANKROLLING the merger of Burger King and Tim Horton’s, to help them (and his investors) pay power taxes on future profits.

Can you say “fading romance”? Bloom off the rose? Turns out that successful investors ARE motivated by self-interest, after all, and the USA’s corporate tax rates are hurting our competitive edge in the world. Hong-Kong always knew it, Ireland figured it out, Canada figured it out, but our ravenous government thinks that all money belongs to them first, and a meager fair share for us. (Because we ‘didn’t build that’!)

When the leak in the dyke becomes a flood of potential revenues leaving, socialist regimes always install capital controls first, followed by people controls – when the thieving gets tough, the tough get going – like Buffet and BK, leaving the rest of us trapped, like the Cubans and Venezuelans.

The combination of Burger King, Warren Buffet, and our Whopper of a corporate tax rate made it a target rich environment for the cartoonists this week – all the cartoons above expand on click, and here are a couple more:
