Indeed – Has our Government stripped away the value of American Citizenship?

Certainly as this trucker goes through a Border Patrol checkpoint, one can hear the dishearted question and answer:

Sadly, they both may be right.  Ask yourself – what advantage does the ordinary middle-class American have over an illegal alien?  What part of American Citizenship is valuable anymore than just being here?  Used to be that:

  • I get to live in the #1 country in the Developed World – but so do they (welcomed in by Obama and watching this illegal kids invasion, an army of taxpayer workers to make their “transition” to living here easier)
  • They need to show papers showing citizen  (and now I can be challenged at a border checkpoint, even being a Citizen that should be able to travel anywhere without “papers”)

  • I can have government ID, accepted as a proof of citizenship (I have a passport, but in many cases).  Now government is issuing Govt ID to illegals too!
  • I have to show government ID to get on a plane – Obama’s Administration is putting illegal immigrants on planes to go all over the country – even Hawaii and the Virgin Islands (free)!
  • I pay taxes – they don’t (most illegals receive welfare of one type or another)
  • I pay for my healthcare – they get it for free (and ask about the 84 CA hospitals that have closed their door because illegal immigrants didn’t pay for theirs)
  • I need a driver’s license to drive – many illegal immigrants don’t bother.  A number of states either are or are trying to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants
  • I pay for my housing – Section 8, anyone (e.g., Obama’s Aunti Zetuni was an illegal alien – she was in Section 8 in Boston)?
  • I pay for my food – illegals get food stamps
  • I would have to pay for my legal bills – the Democrats fall all over themselves to give free legal representation to illegal immigrants.
  • I pay for my own phone – Obamaphone, anyone?
  • It used to be that one of the prime privileges (and responsibility) of being a Citizen was the Vote.  Yet, as Steve posted, a NH Judge has basically removed any and all barriers to folks coming into NH and steal a vote that they should not otherwise have.  Sure, the AG’s office harassed James O’Keefe for embarrassing them showing how easy it is to do so, but will they prosecute illegal immigrants that will vote?

And add this – there are attempts, especially in NY, to allow illegal immigrants a “State Vote” so they could vote in NY based elections (but not Federal ones).

  • It used to be that our nation would pull out all the stops to get a Citizen home – US Marine Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi anyone?
  • My country spies on me – TSA gropes me.  The EPA wants to tell me what I can do with my land – the IRS wants to shut me up.  The EPA also tells me how small of a car I have to drive – and unilaterally decides the type of energy I can use.  And the Government is devaluing my dollars and tells me the healthcare that I must buy. The list goes on…
  • My country fears me as a white, Conservative, TEA Party, Evangelical Christian, middle aged male (remember those DHS “these people are terrorists” reports that also included returning veterans?)
  • My political opposition hates me – loves them

And that’s a short list.  So tell me – what is my advantage, again, in being an American Citizen?
