Because It Is Easier For Dartmouth Security to Disarm Suspects?

I first picked up the story of 20-year-old Dartmouth College Student Taylor Woolrich when Susan Olsen posted a link from the UK Daily Mail on Facebook.   The issue was that of a college student with a stalker who had requested the right to carry concealed on campus for her own safety but had been denied.

College campuses are gun-free zones, no matter what!

The story has since garnered an even broader audience, prompting “The Dartmouth” to post some thoughts about the issue.  The Dartmouth’s piece is reasonably balanced and includes student views on both sides, but there was one quote that caught my eye…

Director of communications at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Ladd Everitt said prohibiting firearms on campus makes it easier for College security members and local law enforcement groups to identify and, if necessary, disarm a suspect.

But, Ladd?  If law-abiding citizens/students/faculty are following the campus gun-free zone policy, why would there be anyone for campus security to disarm?

Don’t hurt yourself working that one out.

I think the communications director just left something out of their statement.  What he probably meant to say was, “easier to disarm…after a crime or crimes were in progress or had been committed, and assuming the criminal waited for campus security or local law enforcement to be present or in close proximity before beginning their illegal activity.”

In my limited experience the only time that happens is when law enforcement is the one engaging in the criminal activity.  What then oh mighty Oracle of Delphi?

I think Ladd Everitt should change the name of that group to “Coalition To Encourage Violence.”  That degree of honesty is, however, unheard of from the likes of these.

It did occur to me that Everitt might be suggesting pat-downs at checkpoints all over campus to disarm suspects.  That would be disarming.  Dartmouth could have it’s own TSA!  But can you imagine the hyperbolic rantings of the harpies who view every glance as contributing to the rape culture.  “Yes we can!”

Ahh, the heterodoxy of colliding liberal orthodoxies.  I can smell the butter on the popcorn from here.

 Campus “Security” Contradictions?

We should also consider whether the disarm-ist murmurmings of “great thinkers”  like Ladd Everitt, who are simply projections of the college/liberal anti-gun industrial complex, can be contradicted by any other public perceptions of “campus safety” at Dartmouth College.

The website American School Search.com maintains a list of the 100 most dangerous colleges and universities in America.  Guess What!  Dartmouth is ranked the 26th most dangerous.  (Doh!)

Based on our analysis of the government data, Dartmouth College is a very dangerous place to be enrolled at. American School Search gives this school grade “F” on safety and ranks Dartmouth College #26 among the Most Dangerous colleges in the USA.

Someone should let Ladd Everitt of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence know that College security members and local law enforcement groups at Dartmouth are already having a problem just identifying suspects.

He should also be made aware that the best way to improve Dartmouth’s ranking from 26 to 27, 50, or 101 on any list like this, would be to take down the gun-free zone signs and encourage law-abiding concealed carry, gun safety, and instruction–because it reduces crime and violence!

It is a policy we should have expected the militant rape-culture femi-nazis to embrace as well, but gun-hating ranks higher on the liberal victimology syllabus.

Gun hating on the left always trumps meaningful rape prevention or any policy to reduce the sexual predation of women who might vote Democrat.

The liberal intelligentsia are not interested in what solves the problems they create.  That would be counter-productive to the point of creating the problem and the crux of the associated narrative.  So as I pointed out in the original post on Woolrich, …

Dartmouth says they are…”equipped and committed to providing the best safety possible for all our students.”

“Best possible safety” means the same thing at Dartmouth as it does from liberals in the real world.   They will be happy to fill out the paperwork after you are attacked, and notify your next of kin.
