ObamaCare, ObamaZone – The Big Lie: ” It was disguised as something that would be almost completely voluntary”

NH State Rep Leigh Webb (D): “The role of government is to legislate behavior“

And that is not the expression of one that values or cherishes Freedom; instead, it is THE  seedling of Totalitarianism.  Obamacare, ObamaZoning – different facets of the same evil – those that have the hubris of incomplete knowledge that feel they have the right to demand how others should live their lives.   This, from RedState talks how Obamacare is incompatible with one of our Constitutional Republic’s main Pillars…

Sidenote: Sorry to keep sounding like Johnny One-Note lately, but I don’t think that our Republic’s philosophical underpinnings get enough conversations.  Progressives prefer it that way – they can use emotion to win at the surface level of a debate – but ONLY at the surface level.  They are, generally speaking, unable to debate vigorously and in depth, because once the centralized totalitarian nature of their philosophy is exposed, they cannot defend it.  That said, if anyone on the Left side of the aisle wants to come on GrokTALK!, we’ll treat you fairly – we ARE about the debate!

…that of The Rule of Law (emphasis mine):

…Gruber’s “speak-o” is another way of saying that ObamaCare is fundamentally incompatible with the American system and the rule of law.  This has become a death match between ObamaCare and our constitutional republic.  Only one will survive.

This is nothing new.  The painful lesson of the Twentieth Century is that collectivism in all its forms – socialism, communism, fascism, Obama’s vision of a centrally planned economy – is incompatible with the rule of law.  There is nothing terribly complicated about the reason for this, and contrary to the ongoing delusions of Twenty-First Century academics, it is an immutable principle: law cannot be allowed to obstruct power.

And this has been seen, over and over again, as Obama and his now politically weaponized Federal Agencies have promulgated regulation where no authorizing statute exists.  Like the IRS deciding it has the power, on its own say so, to give out tax subsidies via ALL Exchanges instead of just those built by the States.   Take a read on this to see how the IRS morphed the writeen Obamacare Law  to fit the desired Power – a perfect example of Law being diminished in order to fulfill a Political End and extend Raw Power.  As you read this next part, remember that our Constitutional Republic was built on another philosophical Pillar – that it was the States that created the Federal Government (and not the other way around) and that Federalism was to be kept above that Federal Government (re: 10th Amendment).  In essence, the Founders wanted Power to be diluted to preserve Individual Liberty – decentralization (the same idea that powers the Internet – how advanced were they back then!).  Instead, Progressivism (mostly Democrats but some Republicans as well) wish us to go the other way – Centralization (just like the Governments that our Founders were trying to escape):

Collectivism relies upon tremendous concentrations of power.  People don’t participate in collectivist schemes voluntarily, particularly those on the losing end of wealth redistribution networks.  Contrary to the infantile Democrat slogan about government being “a name for the things we all do together,” the collectivist vision is about forcing people to do things.

And that is the nub – There is no Progressive idea that allows anyone the Freedom to be apart – none.  Their idea of “togetherness” is not the persuasion of “hey, join us if you want” but a “See, we just passed this law – you WILL join us.  Because we say so”.

This doesn’t sit well with those who still retain the freedom to vote their way out of government schemes, so until collectivism’s losers can be maneuvered into permanent electoral defeat (or, better yet, made dependent on compulsory benefits, so there is no longer an absolute distinction between “takers” and “makers”) it is necessary to lie to the public a great deal.  ObamaCare is an endless stream of lies, blown into Americans’ faces from countless directions.  All of these evasions, misrepresentations, and false promises were used to conceal the amount of raw centralized power in the system.  It was disguised as something that would be almost completely voluntary.

They used the common language of Freedom and Capitalism: – a Marketplace, an Exchange, “you get to pick”, “you contract with a private company” – all lies.  A Marketplace is generally one that grows voluntarity by Individuals – Obamacare Marketplaces are forced upon consumers by Government.  Ditto for an Exchange – you are forced to participate and if you thought you could exercise your Freedom to choose otherwise, well, the IRS will have all of your financial and personal information to “persuade” you to rethink your use of Freedom.  Sure, you get to “pick” a plan, but unlike a true competitive marketplace, your choices have been “picked” in advance for you.  And that private company?  Think Crony Capitalism.

Same thing with ObamaZoning.  Oh sure, we hear all the time “all of these ‘suggestions’ are voluntary – AND we’ll give give you <Planning Board, Zoning Board, Selectmen, City Councilors, Mayors> free money!  Just sign here…”  That’s what the former NH GOP Secretary, Greg Carson (and former HUD lawyer responsible for NH in getting this done) kept telling me.  That’s

Just ask Westchester County in NY.  And now, let’s see what the legal authority is for the Federal Govt (ICE, HHS) to just dump illegal immigrants into your city and town and after some short amount of time, walk away and leave the expense to the locals for their social well being (e.g., free pretty much everything).

Cloward-Piven 360 and all the way down.  After all:

  • NH State Rep Laura Pantelakos (D): “I don’t care about protecting peoples’ Liberty
  • NH State Rep  John Mann (D): “liberty” is either an ideology or a gross misrepresentation and oversimplification (accidental or otherwise) of what government is for.”
  • Kerrie Diers (Exec. Dir. of the Nashua (New Hampshire) Regional Planning Commission) doesn’t care much that your land gets in the way of her planning (for your own good as in “WHY do our perceptions of the needs of the Collective have to give way to what Individuals own?”):
    • “Private Property Rights get in the way of good planning
  • Granite State Futures (the US Federal Govt HUD/EPA/DOT “Sustainable Communities Initiative” here in NH):  Identifying and Overcoming Barriers – One of the steps in the visioning and planning process to be used by each region will be to identify existing and potential barriers to ensuring sustainable communities and to articulate the strategies the regions will use to mitigate or overcome each barrier. Anticipated barriers include NH’s strong tradition of individual property rights and resultant resistance to planning and zoning
  • US Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA):   “No, it’s because we have a misallocation of capital, a misallocation of wealth…I just feel very strongly, that it’s not just appropriations that’s causing this problem.  It’s the lack of the revenue that we should be taking in to meet our obligations as a country.”

President Obama (D-Il): “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.“
