Lambert Campaign Push Poll Complaints Continue

TelephonePollsNH CD-2 residents are being called by SSI Market Research and surveyed or polled with regard to the Republican primary race in New Hampshire’s second congressional district.

A female caller, so far all the recipients report the pollster as female (Caller ID Number is 603 968 5504), relates a list of accomplishments for candidate Gary Lambert.  Gary has some of those so that’s fair enough.  But the pollster refused to tell them who was running the survey until the end.  And before you get to the end, there were a series of points about his opponent, Marilinda Garcia, that appear to fit the definition of a push-poll.

Marilinda, apparently, supports ObamaCare and giving money to companies like Solyndra, favors amnesty and wants to give money to immigrants to support Obama, and missed some astronomical number of NH House votes.

Each of these negatives was prefaced with the question, “Knowing this about Marilinda Garcia, would you be more likely, or less likely to vote for Marilinda Garcia, or if it wouldn’t make a difference.”

I like Gary, and we disagree on a few things, but this is a Push poll.  So he is not just running on his record, or the issues.   I would be interested to hear his thoughts on that.

Personally, I can’t speak to the evidence for the negative claims made, but I have asked the Garcia Campaign for their response.

I do know that only a small number of NH House members make most or all votes, and some actually miss most of them, but based on what I can see from here, Marilinda has missed some votes but not an enormous number.   The NH House Republican Alliance notes her attendance for voting on what they consider key platform votes at 86%, and rate her over four years at 92% on those votes.  That number is based on votes that can be tied to a plank of the state Republican platform.

I’ll have to get back to everyone on the other stuff when I have more details, but I do have one other snippet before I end.

In 20111/2012, both primary candidates were in the state legislature and measured by the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance.  THe NHLA gives every legislator a liberty rating.   The NHLA gave then State Senator Gary Lambert a C.  Marilinda Garcia got an NHLA Liberty rating of A.

I don’t believe that was mentioned in the SSI Push Poll.
