Mitt As A Better President – Surely
Brown As A Better Senator – A Stretch

Shorter: “I know Mitt Romney, and you’re no Mitt Romney”

KickoffReceived this morning, just a few days after The Gnome exhorted everyone to “meet the next senator” at the Tuscan Kitchen, a missive from Team Brown, inviting the faithful to a “Kick Off With Mitt”, and drawing the unlikely parallel that, as Romney would undoubtedly be a better president than Obama, therefore we should assume Scott Brown would be a better senator than Shaheen!

I object! I wrote back to the campaign as follows:

I’m betting this “info@” mailbox doesn’t accept replies, but here goes…

Indeed, I agree with you that Mitt Romney would be a far better president than Obama has been, however, I beg to differ on your preference for Senator.

Two things can change the Federal overreach which is stifling this country and threatens to end the American Experiment in constitutionally limited government:
A majority of elected representatives who are actually willing to SHRINK the Federal government, instead of tinkering with the perks and privileges of officeholders and those who feed at the trough.
A majority (like 3/4) of states with governors and legislators who simply reject any Federal laws which do not flow from delegated powers, and demand repeal of the 16th and 17th amendments.

Spineless representation in Washington can only hasten the decline.

Given a chance to pick some low hanging fruit in terms of reducing the Leviathan, Scott Brown demurred – He railed against Federal excess and regulations, and he spoke glowingly of local choice in schools – so I served the softball which any conservative would grab eagerly: “Would you therefore, close or severely restrict the Department of Education?” Oh no – Federal involvement in education is important, and a bit later “Arne Duncan’s a good guy”.

If I WANT a Democrat, I’ll support Shaheen, and I’ll give you the same advice I gave Charlie Bass both times he lost: “When given a choice between a fake Democrat and the real thing, voters choose the real thing” – That is how we got congressman Hodes, Congresswoman Kuster, and Senator Warren!!

Bold colors, not pale browns!!

Thankyou.

Mike Rogers.
