Only You Can Prevent Over Militarization.

by Steve MacDonald

Over militarization of local police forces is not just ridiculous relative to the facts on the ground,…

“Historians looking back at this period in America’s development will consider it to be profoundly odd that at the exact moment when violent crime hit a 50-year low, the nation’s police departments began to gear up as if the country were expecting invasion — and, on occasion, to behave as if one were underway.”

… it costs taxpayers a lot of money.

“Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace.” James Madison during the Constitutional Convention

    (well, 2 outta 3 ain’t bad, right?)

“A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defense against foreign danger have been always the instruments of tyranny at home.” James Madison in a letter to Thomas Jefferson

well, if it looks like a standing army, is equipped like a standing army, and operates like an occupying army…….shouldn’t we be treating them as such? whle the american public is patient, and inertia and goodwill are the norm against such things…how much is enough? do we collectively look at this and cower under our beds, hoping it doesn’t show up on our doorstep..but knowing someday, it might? that’s not the america I’ve read about, or experienced. we don’t suffer bullies for long. eventually they push around too many people and get kicked in the jimmies, hard.

this is more of a warning to law enforcement than a call for civil war. look around you. is all this what you signed up for? to play soldier against people who are not your enemy (yet)? look back on the cops that came before you…is this how THEY would operate? is this how they would treat the people they were entrusted to Serve and Protect? would they be proud of you, or ashamed?

the “thin blue line” is not a suicide pact. someday, you will have to pick a side. I hope you will be able to live with your decision. if you pick the path of tyranny, it usually ends in places that look and awful lot like Nuremberg, and “I was only following orders” no longer gives you any protection.
