The death of the Tea Party has been greatly exaggerated these past few years, especially after Mitt Romney and the Establishment deliberately ignored them and were surprised at underwhelming Conservative/Libertarian participation in 2012.

Brat-Swat This year, the TEA party failures have been widely trumpeted by the Establishment, every time one of their content free candidate/ attack the conservative campaigns paid off. The media has been much more reticent about covering the TEA party victories, which are gradually piling up, especially when long term incumbents are way off the reservation, and there is ONE good challenger, like Brat vs Cantor, tonight.

There are lessons to be drawn here, especially in view of the opposite result being achieved in South Carolina, where The Snake, Lindsey Grahamnesty, scored an easy primary victory over six, count ’em, SIX ‘TEA Party’ challengers. C’mon guys, what was it? Vanity, Stupidity, or Cupidity (being bought by the Establishment)?? One challenger, ideal; two challengers, maybe; Three or MORE – insanity. The other lesson, as Skip noted, is that amnesty is a LOSER, eh, Kelly? (Or, perhaps, ‘A Bridge Too Far”!)

The main lesson, however, as noted by Richard Viguerie, is “It’s the Primary, Stupid” – you have to win the primary to win the seat. VA7 took that to heart, SC did not.

But we have our own lesson to learn here: With Brown looking more and more like damaged goods with faulty judgement, the question is whether we can push him under 30% so that Rubens or Smith can take the nomination and the prize, OR, whether either of our home-grown candidates (Smith and Rubens) will offer to back the other in order to be certain that Brown is CRUSHED. If we let Brown win, we have two possibilities in November – liberal, or very liberal 🙁
