NoBrown / Second Amendment Rally: So, Mitch Kopacz, the Concord Monitor is privileged?

So  Mitch Kopacz, President of Gun Owners of NH, what’s the deal?  You REALLY think that “Pravda on the Merrimack” (aka, the outpost of the liberal MSM called the Concord Monitor) is as supportive of the Second Amendment as GraniteGrok is?  And THEY, the reporter and photographer, were then allowed to breeze past the hotel manager at the front door and saunter right in?  And we were given the bum’s rush?

Now remember, we’ve already seen ONE stricture of “No Cameras / No Recording / No Media” broken by Scott Brown’s own campaign staff.  Now, a couple of videos showing that:

  • CONSERVATIVE media got restricted from entering the Holiday Inn (Concord, NH) and was told to leave the property.
  • LIBERAL media was allowed to walk right into the hotel – right past the “hotel manager” that kicked us off the property.

Again, this was at the behest of both Scott Brown and Gun Owners of NH (“GONH”).  So, first up for video is myself and Rick Olson (a GONH member, by the way) being told that we were persona non grata – and a bit of a back story to it as well…

This happens right after “Jeremy”, one of Scott Brown’s campaign workers, outright lied to us.  I had noticed that I had lost a screw on the bracket that holds my shotgun mic to the camera and that another one was loose (yeah, yeah, keep those yuks coming!) so I WAS going to my car to see if I had my Leatherman multi-tool with me (er, no).  Anyways, we had walked down the sidewalk to the driveway and noticed that ANOTHER person had started to parallel us as we headed to the car.  When we stopped at the car and looked back at him, he stopped and turned his back on us.  After it became clear that I had nothing for a tool that small, I looked at Rick, he looked at me, and we just grinned – and started back to the guy thinking he was just an older version of Jeremy:

He repeated what we had heard: no cameras / no recording / no media / no reporters.  Period.  To be sure, he (the manager,  Tim) was well within his rights and within the boundary of protecting his guests.  I’ve been at the highest frequent stayer levels at hotels – that is what is expected to happen).  But then we saw the second shoe drop.

Now the back story on this is that I spent most of my time with the protesters and getting a bunch of micro-interviews.  Two young ladies were there and I had noticed that one had been taking picture with a rather expensive camera and the other had been scribbling in her note book fast and furiously.  So, since we talk to everyone, I asked both of them (they were standing together, Andrea Morales and Kathleen Ronayne) if they would be willing to do an interview with the ‘Grok – not from an ideological basis but what was it like to cover the campaigns from a journalist standpoint – they demurred and said that they had to have permission first.

So, with their identities established, imagine my surprised when I saw them sayshaying into the Holiday Inn – unimpeded and unchallenged:

I’ll be waiting for that email, sir….
