You Want To “Give America A Raise?”

Obama Economy down the 'Toilet'The Democrats would like to Give America A Raise.  That was what Obama promised in his state of the union. When Democrats feel the need to do something, their first act is to plunder someone else to pay for it, whatever it is.  But there are plenty of other ways to give America a raise.

Complying with the mountains of government regulations is now estimated at equivalent costs equal to $14,000.00 per American, per year.  Eliminating that cost would be equal to saving every one in the country a wage of seven dollars per hour (in an average 40 hour work week)–including people who are not working, or too young to work.

The US Department of Education cost taxpayers about 70 billion per year.  Assuming the states could do the same thing for less, and why couldn’t they, if we could cut most of that cost from the Federal budget, and shift any necessary responsibility into existing state agencies, we could give America another raise.

If we apply that to other agencies that do things the states could or are already doing, EPA, Department of Interior, Department of Energy, and reduce their budgets by deferring responsibilities and costs at the state level back to the individual states, we’d be giving American’s another raise.

If the US government stopped adding to the national debt the additional interest payments we would never have to make would be like giving American’s a raise.

If the US Government stopped printing money, devaluing the dollars hard-working American’s are already stretching to deal with the inflation that this monetary policy creates, that would be like giving Americans a raise.

If politicians stopped giving out money to farmers not to grow, or to rent seeking corporations, it would be like giving American’s a raise.

If we stopped financing the national defence of other nations and gradually backed off while encouraging them to finance their own, that would be like giving American’s a raise.

If we stopped paying federal employees significantly more than the private sector workers who have to give up some of their wages to pay for the wages and benefits of over paid federal employees, that would be like giving America’s a raise.

If we ended the practice of paying those in congress who serve five years or more pay and benefits for life–and not just because most of them are already wealthy or have job options that have nothing to do with being a politician, that would be like giving American’s a raise.

If we opened education to competition, costs would drop and results would improve–which would be like giving Americans a raise and teaching Americans how to be better and earning and deserving future ‘raises.’

If Politicians spent more time in DC doing everything they could to keep the money in the states instead of negotiating for who got credit for getting the most back, that would be like giving American’s a raise.

There are dozens, if not hundreds more examples, just at the federal level, where changing the way Washington does business would be like giving American’s a raise and yet the only thing Democrats can imagine to fulfill the Obama administration’s rhetoric “give American’s a raise” agenda is to use government force, extortion by statute, to take more money from some people to give it to others.

But this is just another act of force whose cost will be borne by everyone, regardless of income level, including those the Democrats claim are beneficiaries of the plunder.

Democrats are so clueless about how to give American’s a raise that the mere act of doing so will ultimately cost us more.
