This Isn’t The Renewable Fuel You’re Looking For…

Ethanol - Cellulosic residueCornography…

A $500,000 study paid for by the federal government and released Sunday in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Climate Change concludes that biofuels made with corn residue release 7 percent more greenhouse gases in the early years compared with conventional gasoline.

While biofuels are better in the long run, the study says they won’t meet a standard set in a 2007 energy law to qualify as renewable fuel.

Proponents of the fuel (who have or stand to make a fortune off the stuff) are calling the study bunk, that its data and assumptions are absurd.  Hmmm.  Are these people Cellulosic residue emissions deniers?

Cellulosic biofuels that don’t meet that threshold could be almost impossible to make and sell. Producers wouldn’t earn the $1 per gallon subsidy they need to make these expensive fuels and still make a profit. Refiners would shun the fuels because they wouldn’t meet their legal obligation to use minimum amounts of next-generation biofuels.

Did you catch that?  They can’t get rich without their taxpayer handout;if the product does not meet the standard they helped set they won’t get their taxpayer-funded $1 per gallon subsidy.

They and their lobbyists agitated the climate mythology to cerate a demand for their product, helped set the mandates that would ensure a protected market, established blend rates to ensure and or increases sales, and now that there is a study suggesting ethanol is just as bad or worse for the environment–something we’ve known all along, actually) they can’t get rich because they will be intelligible for the perpetual taxpayer bailout that makes this scheme work.

Big oil – just wants to use their own profits to develop more energy to reduces prices and foreign dependence.

Big Corn – can’t operate without taking money from us by force of law.
