So, this is how Jeanne Shaheen works the “uncoordination” coordination racket? – Part 2

Jeanne Shaheen Wicked WitchA bit more of a close up of the same thing here in my previous post – Jeanne Shaheen seems to be saying “Here it is, boys – come and use it FOR ME!”.  Moe Lane over at RedState has our next Object Lesson (emphasis mine, reformatted):

…Or at least the wickedness of Jeanne Shaheen’s reelection campaign.

Actually, from that link, here it is:

shaheen Hidden ad

You look at that, and you think to yourself: That looks a lot like the framework of an ad – complete with stock photos! – that the Shaheen campaign would very much like a third-party group to grab and turn into an actual campaign commercial, only the campaign can’t actually say that.

  • And the reason why you would think that is because that’s what it is. You see, candidates cannot coordinate with third party political Super-PACs, thanks to the amazingly bizarre and remarkably pointless regulatory regime that we like to call ‘campaign finance reform.’ But as that link shows, there’s nothing stopping campaigns from putting up public ‘Important Messages,’ and then looking surprised when a third-party group turns that message into a campaign ad.
  • Lest you think that I am exaggerating, the Washington Post has at least one writer who’s in on the scheme: ”Kinda, sorta looks like Jeanne Shaheen’s campaign posted script for a 30-second ad to its site. Who will run the ad?”
  • And lo!

    • As the NRSC (yes, I know, but they’re right about this) points out, that ad buy was completely expected – they predicted it yesterday – and represents an attempt to get around the rules. And it’s not the first time: the Democrats are doing this in North Carolina and Arkansas.

And then Moe has a nice way of bringing up “deep sneaker time”:

…And that’s one reason why I am chuckling, as well as hopping mad. Consider, for a moment: why is the Shaheen campaign ordering this ad? They have an ad team; they have a budget; they have access to New Hampshire media. If they wanted this ad put out there, why didn’t they just do it themselves? And the answer to that is The Jeanne Shaheen campaign does not think that it has enough in the way of resources to win this election on their own. Which is another way of saying Jeanne Shaheen’s reelection campaign is in trouble.

It is certainly the case she thought she was going to have a cakewalk this cycle and now she thinks she’s in deep doo doo.  Well, that’s a good thing, I like it when a politician starts to sweat.  And looks for a life preserver to grab ahold of.  Or, if you if you prefer, water (clue: look above carefully).  She might well lose, she might win.  But it certainly is tacit admission that she doesn’t have enough support in-state to “get her message out”.

Wonder if she’s going to talk to our Wonderful Political SB 120 campaign speech limiters, eh?

But EVERY dollar the Democrats have to spend here is a dollar they didn’t think they had to a few months ago.  Recent news also shows that a bunch of other State’s Senatorial races are also “unexpectedly” moving from “almost a shoo-in” to “is it time to panic???” status.  Now, I’m not going to get ready to put ANY Happy Dance shoes on for quite some time – after all, I’m still also seeing hearing of reports of folks like this one too often. But if that money can’t be used there, we could think of Jeanne Shaheen was the Democrat Senatorial sink drain hole…..nice visualization.

Until they turn off the spigot.
