Is the Obama foreign policy even up for this low bar?

phone textingPutin has attacked Ukraine and making mad eyes at the Baltic (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia) in an attempt to reassemble the old Soviet Union.  China is making land demands on Japan and the Philippines.  Kim Jong Un is still playing with nuclear fire, and the Iranian Mullahs have thoughts of hegemony in the Middle East.  Iraq is in turmoil, Turkey is going Islamist, the European is both going broke (a bad thing) and starting to have its own TEA Party movement (ok, a GREAT thing – but not for Obama), Al Queada is uprising in the failed states of Somalia and Yemen, and the Taliban is just tapping its foot in Afghanistan in waiting out Obama’s “end of the good war” deadline even as they are tapping out the competition in Pakistan.  And let’s not forget the failing state to our south, Mexico, where no one seems to know who is in charge – the Federales, the drug lords, or the under siege citizens.

And with all of these major rolling catastrophes, the Obama Administration, in full Nanny mode, thinks this is worth of UN action?

US pushes fellow UN member states to ban texting while driving

In a speech delivered Thursday before the United Nations General Assembly, the United States’ ambassador said that she’s co-sponsoring a new resolution that would lead to more global restrictions on texting while driving.

“Worldwide, six out of seven people have access to cell phones, and more than a billion cars are on the road,” Ambassador Samantha Power said

“In crowded conditions, with narrow roads and poor infrastructure, bicyclists and pedestrians are at particular risk. Too many drivers simply don’t understand the danger of taking their eyes, even briefly, from the road. And while drinking is episodic, the use of handheld devices is chronic. No one should die—or kill—because of a text message.”

This is the mark of Progressives that just can’t stop themselves in believing they are the smartest people in the room KNOWING that they know best for everyone.  This is the mark of a Nanny State that treats everyone, including other nations and their leaders, as mere children.

Determined Weakness – who wants to the bet that:

  • Samantha “Soft Power” Powers can’t even pull this off.
  • This turns us even into more of a laughingstock.

Seriously, this is the stuff of High Diplomacy?  Awe heck,  if US Senators and Congressmen believe that the name of the Washington DC NFL football team is of proper consideration of their oversight.  Once again, when are these chuckleheads going to concentrate on the really important national stuff, the stuff they they should be absorbed in and leave everything (and everyone) else  alone?
