I know this will come as a shock to Senator Brown, Andy Leach, and the NHGOP leadership, but I set out to host Scott Brown last week with a completely open mind.
Sure I’d heard the stories about bipartisanship, and gun rights, but I considered Brown a serious contender, who might actually win the Primary – and then what??
Believe me, I caught all kinds of flak from conservatives, for “supporting” Brown by holding the house party, but due diligence means knowing your candidates, and we take that very seriously around here.
What I was looking for, was some sign that Brown appreciated the NH electorate, and/or that he took a principled approach to cutting government and preserving freedom. In short, I, along with many of our visitors, was looking for some positive signs that we could get behind Brown in a pinch – if he was indeed the nominee.
Didn’t happen. The slipperiest performance I’ve suffered in some time.
