BLM Rides Again: Texas AG Plants His Flag!

Texas-flag-and-come-and-take-it-flag In an Article at American Thinker recently, Rick Moran detailed the restless and rapacious nature of the increasingly militarized Bureau of Land Managment. But there’s a small problem – they are trying to tread on TEXAS this time.

At issue is a 116 mile stretch of the Red River along the border between Texas and Oklohoma, where the river tends to meander, and the two states have periodically disputed the precise location of the border. In that area, Texas ranchers (or should they be simply US citizen ranchers) own deeded property rights going back many generations.

WikiPedia-RedRiver-MapIn a further flexing of its muscles, the BLM is eyeing some 90,000 acres along the river, where they previously won a court case in 1986, stealing 140 acres from rancher Tommy Henderson WITHOUT COMPENSATION. Congressman Mac Thornberry, candidate for Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller, and AG Greg Abbot as as mad as hell, and they aren’t going to take it:

“I am about ready,” General Abbott told Breitbart Texas, “to go to the Red River and raise a ‘Come and Take It’ flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas.

In his interview with Breitbart, General Abbott also said:

“This is the latest line of attack by the Obama Administration where it seems like they have a complete disregard for the rule of law in this country …And now they’ve crossed the line quite literally by coming into the State of Texas and trying to claim Texas land as federal land. And, as the Attorney General of Texas I am not going to allow this.” (emphasis added)

But that’s not all, folks: Across TX, OK, and KS, Red States, all, the BLM is scoping out a plan which will cover a total of 411,585 square miles, or 263 million acres of land. The BLM describes its “decision area as about 104,000 acres of BLM administered surface lands, 593,000 acres of split-estate land (private land with federal mineral interests) and 5,270,000 acres of federal mineral interests on land managed by other federal agencies.”

Moran believes that the BLM has failed to realize that it is not just the situation at the Bundy ranch, but that Americans everywhere, and especially across the Southwest have completely had it with Federal overreach, and states that:

I don’t think the BLM or any federal agency is smart enough to recognize this, which is why the potental for a shooting war to break out is more than just idle speculation. Not just at the Bundy ranch, but everywhere a land dispute is in progress, agencies of the federal government have a responsibility to deal with citizens fairly, and forthrightly. The BLM is demonstrating they have no intention of doing either.

And the idiots are trying to tread on TEXAS!!
