War, Dishonor, and Churchill’s Bust vs Obama’s Naiveté

The problem, as I see it, is that Barry and his Choom Gang, are too busy inhaling the hazy visions of sunshine and lollipops of theoretical socialism to have noticed that real life “socialist” regimes are all about supreme leaders, control, and oppression.

On the other hand, Putin seems to be trying to recapture the satellite states of the Soviet union, and to reconstruct Soviet era “alliances” like ComEcon

BrassBallsObama is a follower of heroes and ideologies.
Putin is a pragmatic tyrant, and most of all, a leader who knows what he wants and plans to take it!
Insert joke about “The Secret Policeman’s Balls” here.

ChurchillBustAs I said on the show Saturday: “Welcome to the Sudetenland, Herr Putin!”

Churchill’s bust is now saying, if Barry can hear it: “You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war.”

(The Sudetenland was a small piece of Czechoslovakia which Hitler was allowed to take, before he swallowed up the rest of Czechoslovakia and then Poland.)

The Crimea is a small part of Ukraine which Putin may be allowed to take before he swallows up the rest of Ukraine and……..

When he seized the Sudetenland, Hitler could credibly claim that the residents were majority German for historical reasons. (Not that it made his actions right)

The Soviets and their heir, the Czar Putin, have deliberately seeded Russian speakers into areas which might become the subjects of dispute, in order to bolster their claims on those regions “to protect our citizens” at a time of their choosing. This is now playing out in Crimea, just as it did in South Ossetia and Abkhazia a few years back, when Palin made her sagacious prediction that the Ukraine would be next.

I think it is instructive to watch the former secret policeman reassemble the tyrannical empire with which he is so comfortable, and one has to grudgingly admire the way he outsmarts and out maneuvers our president and diplomats, while not condoning his actions.

Meanwhile, ‘Mr Nice Guy’ is treated more like ‘Mr MICE Guy’ as our former allies decline to partner with the USA in imposing sanctions on Putin’s Russia. At the beginning of 2009, Obama walked away from a commitment to install anti-missile defenses in the Czech Republic and Poland, and threw an historic bust of Winston Churchill back at the Brits.

Now, the Regime is puzzled when nations in central Europe do not want to lash themselves to Obama’s sinking sanctions after The Czech Republic and Poland were abandoned, and can’t grasp why the same Brits they were happy to insult over Churchill’s bust, would leak a policy paper saying:

The government will not curb trade with Russia or close London’s financial centre to Russians as part of any possible package of sanctions against Moscow, according to an official document. (BBC)

Churchill’s famous quotation comes from his rebuke to Nevile Chamberlain when the latter had declared “peace in our time” after giving Hitler a little of what he wanted. Chamberlain was tested and found wanting.

I wonder what pithy words with be inscribed on the gravestone of Obama’s appeasement of Putin?
