This is the definition of "Having one's back"? - Granite Grok

This is the definition of “Having one’s back”?

WMUR“Having one’s back” – the trust that one places in another that no matter the situation, no matter the circumstances, the other guy will be steadfast, present, and loyal.  It’s that last term that seems to be such a nuthingburger in politics where if political speed of movement could be measured when the mud starts flying around someone, politicians AND political operatives would be Olympic world class sprinters.

Heh!  once again another set of bon mots from Political Scoop this Friday:

Scott Brown: His odd, “whatever,” comment to the Associated Press this week became late night comedy fodder, but he is continuing to win over conservatives and now Ayotte is on the record having his back.

Hmm, maybe that phrase “on the record having his back” does not mean what I think it does because  I DO believe that loyalty plays a large component in it (e.g., politicians have another definition?).  After all, on CloseUP (yes, WMUR “has been berry, berry goot to me” for blog fodder) has Kelly on video on this.  Defending his New Hampshire birth and history is not rising up a defense – that is only stating actual history.  However, when Josh McElveen brought up his stance on gun control and his moderate stances,  Kelly deflected.  Changed the subject and did answer the question, she did.  She chose not to defend Scott Brown.  I believe she sees a potential mudstorm out in the future and decided that this future-a-coming would not have her included.  I was going to include this video as proof, but it ended JUST before the question and answer.

In other words, she wiffed.  Waffled.  She didn’t “have his back” otherwise she would have actually defended his stances.  Now, I do not see Kelly as being really conservative but certainly more than Scott Brown.  However, if the definition of Consistency is that I would know how you vote before you do BECAUSE you have made known your foundational principles (if you have such) and philosophy (if you have such) known, that should give us all a great idea for whom we have voted.

I ‘ve been writing for a while that Consistency builds Trust which yields Votes, but if your potential Sr. Senator can’t defend your stances….does that mean that Consistency doesn’t exist?
