The Next Best Least Worst ObamaCare Strategy For Troubled Democrats?

Healthcare costsThere is a good deal of debate about what Democrats running for office should do about ObamaCare.  That, in and of itself, is instructive; there was an aggressive disinformation campaign against the legislations opponents, supporters of the bill lied or repeated lies, the President has had to break the law–literally, and now faced with re-election, Democrats are wondering what to say to ensure none of that has consequences?

One of the nation’s leading Democratic pollsters and strategists is urging embattled House and Senate incumbents to abandon their defense of Obamacare and instead pledge to “fix it.

Interesting tack considering how much political blood and treasure was spent to convince America that ObamaCare WAS THE FIX to what ailed our so-called unfair and unworkable Health Care system.

Celinda Lake, whose firm Lake Research Partners provided the Democratic analysis of the new George Washington University Battleground Poll released Tuesday morning, summed up her advice to Democrats when it comes to Obamacare: “Don’t defend it.”

In unveiling the poll, she said that the new Democratic strategy should be for candidates to promise to fix the troubled system while pledging to help keep Americans out of the claws of greedy insurance firms.

As opposed to a greedy government?  Insurance companies have to compete for your dollars.  They then have to somehow make you feel like the service you wanted in exchange for your money is adequate to what you were promised or received.   Government has no such inclination.  ObamaCare is an act of force by a government that intimidates you if you question its false promises, and punishes you if you do not purchase what it is selling; plans paid for in part by plundering the wallets and pocketbooks of you or your neighbors.

“In terms of Obamacare, don’t defend it, say it was flawed from the beginning, and we’re going to fix it,” said Lake at a poll briefing hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

So you “bribed” major players and elected officials with incentives, favors, and kickbacks to force a flawed hostile takeover of the health care system–that you knew was flawed from the beginning.  (From Day one?)  There’s a winning campaign selling point.  One you could probably pull off except for this.  There was significant pushback before passage from people who said it was flawed.  People who pointed out that what you promised was impossible.  People whose points, as it turns out, were all true.  People you belittled, diminished, insulted, antagonized, and intimidated simply because they disagreed with you and were right?   So you are running as a tyrant?  Got it.

But, she added, it is key for Democrats to also stick to their historic approach of looking out for the little guy when it comes to health care. “Say,” she added, “we’re not going to go back to the days of leaving you on your own with the insurance companies.”

As opposed to today, when you can’t possibly be left alone by a government that robs you, lies to you, strong-arms you, and then insults you, while making backroom deals to pass flawed legislation that delivers fewer options, with higher deductibles, that no one who foisted this on us really ever has to participate in.

Yes.  Please run on that strategy.
