THANKS for calling us the other Elephant – and what it really means!

MEH

We consider DaTechGuy (Pete Ingemi, a nationally recognized blogger and radio host) as being one of our ‘Grok friends.  If we have set up at an event and he shows up, we ALWAYS make sure he has a seat at our table.  Smart, persistent, and a genuinely nice guy, I’m happy we’ve gotten to know him.  But he can also be brutally honest when it comes to reporting on politics even if it means he could take a hit – or hit his friends.  I saw his tweet:

and went to read the piece (emphasis mine).

That’s really the issue,  Browns decision to run appears to people in NH as something imposed from on high and that brings up another sore spot in the state that can best be illustrated by what or rather who I didn’t see at NLRC 2014.

Granite Grok.

Granite Grok is the premiere conservative group blog in the state. There is nobody that has advanced conservative position and candidates with more strength. Furthermore they are generally everywhere if a political event is taking place Granite Grok is there to cover it and stream it live.

Grok didn’t show up. Their reaction to the Scott Brown run was the title of their post:

Meh

Grok’s absence symbolizes the split between the Tea Party wing of the NH GOP & the Establishment wing of the GOP.  It’s reaching the point of open war. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that a conservative 3rd party will arise in the state after the November election unless this is taken care of.

First, I want to thank DaTechGuy for his kind words.  We never write for “the rankings”  but rather, we know what we believe what leads to success for not just Individuals, but for Society in general.  I am glad to say that we are Consistent; unlike some Republicans, we always view current events and issues from the lens of Principle – after all, it was the Principles laid down by the Framers that allowed this country to become the richest, the most powerful, and (most importantly) the most free country in the history of the world.  Contra those that still believe that the Collective, a Socialized / Progressive machine is the way for some to organize others (and refusing to accept the horrible failures when it has been tried), we put our faith in Joe SixPack to do the right thing on his own and for his family.

Let me interject: Not to have the ‘Grok go to NLRC was a deliberate decision made by me.  I rarely make “executive decisions” (otherwise called “pulling rank”) as I have tried hard to put together a self-directing team so that I wouldn’t have to (and been honored to know that every Grokster always seems to see what needs to be done – and then just goes and does it).  Sure, I am an NH GOP Committee member, but I as I have said many times before, I’m a holder to the three TEA Party principles first, a Conservative second, and only then a Republican when it comes to political philosophy.  Frankly, given our stances and the reception to our forcefully speaking out and advocating for them, especially lately, I felt that we would not be at all welcome.  In fact, we believe that the TEA Party, the Conservative grassroots, are being told “We don’t need or want you” and this happens in a variety of ways small and large, visible and behind the scenes.  There have been times in the past when the NH GOP asked if we were coming to events – and we generally went.

This time, nada.

This has to be addressed NOW. Scott Brown & the NH GOP’s problem is a lot like Mitch McConnell at CPAC he needs to address the elephant in the room which are his positions on life and guns because as of today those NH Republicans will not turn up and vote for Senator Brown in a general election.

And if they don’t forget a senate seat in Washington, if they stay home the NHGOP can kiss the prospect of taking back the state house and senate goodbye in a year where Democrats in the state are running scared.

Remember, this is NOT a Grokster writing that but an outsider (but a very well informed and smart one that is watching closely from just across the border).

Those are two important planks in the NH GOP Platform.  Another is that of “limited government” – and he voted for Dodd-Frank, the biggest intrusion of Government into business and our private lives evah (‘cepting Obamacare, natch) and we will blog about this in the future.  And if they don’t show up to vote for Brown, they also aren’t showing up to vote for the other Republicans down ticket.  But given the absolute “hugathon” for Brown that the Establishment Republicans have been drooling about for months now, I do wonder if it matters much to them about the folks just off stage instead of the one standing in the national Klieg lights.  How many time have I written concerning Republicans with the insinuations that we ought to just leave and run on our own:

We may not win, but you will surely lose

Especially here in NH where win margins in a lot of districts can be very thin indeed, the NH GOP has to struggle get to 50%+1; all I’d have to do is persuade 1.5 to 2 points to not vote.  And there are a lot of people out there that are no longer willing to vote for the lesser of two evils anymore.

Pro-Choice, Pro Gun Control, voted for Dodd-Frank: what’s the MAIN difference between Scott Brown and Jeanne Shaheen, NH GOP chair Jennifer Horn?  Not just the usual pablum of “United we are, we are all Conservatives” and the like – but a real, concrete, observable and verifiable punch list?

Nominating Brown takes the gun issue off the table that the GOP should be able to beat the Democrats over the head with and will put Kelly Ayotte who voted on the right side of the bill on the spot two years before her re-election campaign.

I’ve said this before and I will again, my candidate is Karen Testerman (her site is here) but if Brown is nominated the GOP had better decide to mend fences fast, or it will cost them more than they bargained for.

Indeed!  But I do believe it shows the ruination of small state politics here in the First in the Nation Primary State – the once a 4-year distortion of big money and big names seems to outweigh the concentration needed on the down ticket races for a place to rub elbows, sometimes get a paycheck, and even fewer chances to grab for the brass ring to get to the Big Show in DC or a leg up to the next rarified level of national politics.
