Planned Parenthood Wants To Unseat A Pennsylvania Democrat

ramirez-gosnellWhy would planned Parenthood want to unseat a Democrat State legislator whom they endorsed in 2010?  The legislator is Democrat Margo Davidson.  Margo’s cousin is Semika Shaw.  Shaw is the woman who died as a result of the ministrations of one Kermit Gosnell.

Davidson supported legislation in Pennsylvania that would bring abortion clinics in line with other health care facilities, requiring regular inspections to ensure that conditions like those in Gosnell’s clinic did not affect the health and lives of any other women in the state.

Brandon McGinley at The Federalist shares Davidson’s word on the House floor back in 2011.

Today I honor [Semika’s] memory by voting for this legislation that seeks to safeguard the health of women that is long overdue, so that never again will a woman walk into a licensed healthcare facility in the state of Pennsylvania and be butchered, as she was, with her uterus perforated and her death of sepsis and infection permeating in her body till she writhed in pain on the floor of her home to her ultimate death.  And today I thank the members of this house that supported this legislation for the safety of women.

Rep Davidson saw Gosnell’s clinic for what it was; the back alley abortion clinic that Democrats promised they would protect women like Semika from having to endure.  Her reward from Planned Parenthood?  Their endorsement of her primary candidate.

McGinley points out the contradictions for us.

If Planned Parenthood cared about women like Semika Shaw, then it wouldn’t oppose laws like the one Rep. Davidson supported. The clinic regulation bills that have swept the country in the wake of Gosnell’s atrocities merely ask that abortion clinics are run like what they claim to be: legitimate medical facilities. If Planned Parenthood were running itself like a legitimate medical provider, then there would be nothing to which to object. The fact that it is often ruinously expensive for Planned Parenthood to conform its surgical abortion facilities to the standards of other ambulatory surgical facilities shows just how shoddy they were to begin with.

If Planned Parenthood really cared about women like Semika Shaw, it would have examined and reformed itself in the wake of the Gosnell revelations. But two years later Planned Parenthood of Wilmington, Delaware—only 30 miles from Philadelphia—was shut down by the state after nurses reported “meat market-style assembly line abortions.” Patients were moved through the facility at such a pace that bloody discharge would remain on the exam table as woman after woman after woman was herded into the office.  Kermit Gosnell would’ve been right at home.

Planned Parenthood is like a Union.  Unions talk about jobs and workers but only in pursuit of more or higher dues payments to finance their lifestyles and tax free political machines.  The union exists for the union, not the workers.  Planned Parenthood is about Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood feeds off taxpayer dollars on the presumption that it will protect women from coat-hanger surgeries in dirty clinics and back alleys but they do nothing of the sort.  They exist to expand abortion, back alley or otherwise.  They aggressively lobby for their public/private business model and they will take on any effort to regulate that model anywhere, even in the unsanitary coat-hanger parlors of butchers like Gosnell.

Women are a commodity.  Pretending to care about their well-being is a marketing scheme.  Reality is quite different.  And Democrats who think PP should at least try to keep its promise are not immune to their wrath.
