Oh, I'm quite sure - Granite Grok

Oh, I’m quite sure

WMUROn today’s WMUR’s CloseUP, Josh McElveen interviewed both Scott Brown and his wife.  He posed a question to Scott (emphasis mine):

[Bob Smith said]: You’re so liberal that you should be in a primary with Jeanne Shaheen

And the way that Scott Brown answered the question, it seem like a challenge

Scott Brown “That’s Bob being Bob from what I understand.”

Josh McElveen: “Your conservative credentials will be called into question.”

Scott Brown: “I’ll put my credentials up against anyone. You know I’m a Republican and I have been since I was 18 years old and I think there is room for everybody. Certainly I welcome a primary and I appreciate everybody’s interest in getting involved in the process. So, no big deal.”

And I think there will be those that will answer that challenge.  First off, I noticed that Brown did NOT directly answer the statement’s question.  Most conservatives would have been HAPPY to say why their political stance is Conservative and what they have done to prove their bona fides.  Instead, he demoted the argument with the insinuation that ALL Republicans are, by nature, Conservative.

A fallacy.

I chuckled at his response to a primary (“I welcome a primary”).  Um, being the last one in, that isn’t “welcoming” a primary, it’s simply joining it.  Unless, of course, you expected all the others to simply bow down and bow out.  And then gives a kiss-off to Conservatives here in NH: “no big deal“.
