If The Keystone Pipeline Would Cost Koch Billions, Why Don’t Democrats Support It?

Is Jeanne Shaheen #addictedtokoch ?

We know Democrats don’t really care about jobs or the economy, or expanding oil and natural gas projects would be at the top of the list.  These energy development projects would be self-funded (no taxpayer boondoggles), and would require the oil and gas companies to invest their own cash on materials, employees, wages, and benefits, all of which would inject new revenue into the economy while lessening dependency on taxpayer-funded support systems.

We know democrats don’t want that. It could also mean affordable energy, lower gas prices, warmer winters, which Democrats also seem to oppose.  What I don’t get is why they would object to the government and the states involved earning more tax revenue without having to raise or add taxes?  (Did that question just answer itself?)

So how about another incentive, particularly when it comes to the keystone XL Pipeline?  According to the environmental left–depending on what day of the week it is, Koch industries could lose billions.

More oil would lower prices and cost them profits.

Koch’s oil production in northern Alberta is “negligible,” according to industry sources and quarterly publications of the provincial government. Moreover, Koch has not reserved any space in the Keystone XL pipeline, a process that usually takes place before a pipeline is built.

The pipeline also does not run anywhere near Koch’s refining facilities. And TransCanada, owner of the Keystone routes, says Koch is not expected to be one of the pipeline’s customers.

John Hinderaker has extensive details and analysis here and from an earlier post here.

Bottom line, the far left’s gymnastics to make KXL a boon to Koch to keep Democrats away simultaneously insists they will lose billions.  The reality is probably neither. Koch has no horse in that race at all, so this is all made up fantasy to fuel the hate-hate relationship for a rank-and-file that will just follow the blue breadcrumbs laid out for them.

Now, Jeanne Shaheen may be a Senator, but she could just as easily be another talking-points memo Blue Hampshire lurker for the lack of intellectual curiosity she demonstrates.   But if the far left says Koch loses money,(and the reality is they will in no way make more money) all the more reason to support the pipeline.   Although Jeanne risks losing some campaign-cheese if her Koch connections find themselves with less Koch dollars to share with her.
