Bill Maher: “why vote for Republican-lite when you can vote for a real Republican”

I just thought “My, the Democrats think the same way – just in reverse on this! – and this from the religion hating, Republican hating Bill Maher.  But what gets me is that he laid down THE marker question to his panel of Lefties:  Why won’t the Democrats just come out, be brace, and be against the Second Amendment? And then you see US Senator Keith Ellison (D-MN) start to panic and try to defend the standard “incrementalist” strategy – because he KNOWS that if Democrats really said what they wanted, they’d never hold office again.  And he basically admits it, too.  As the Youngest would say “Political Cowardness”.

Note: I just put it after the jump – it’s auto playing and real annoying if on the front page – and I don’t see any switches to turn it off.

BTW, if the purpose of the Second Amendment was to prevent a tyrannical government, why would citizens allow government to have a monopoly on the arms needed to fight it?  You hear the question all the time from the Left “So, owning a bazooka should be legal then, right?”  Actually it is, along with tanks and other “Big Stuff”, although I’m not sure I could afford my own personal nuclear powered carrier with a full air wing…..but an A-10?

And this shows the BIG difference between Conservatives and Progressives.  I would CERTAINLY trust my law abiding friends to own an A-10 (fully loaded, even).  WHY?  Simply because they ARE law abiding and I have no fear knowing that they would do only the right things and not the bad things.  Progressives (as this post intimates) truly believe that we are ALL GUILTY just on the idea that sometime, in the future, there might be a smidgeon of a chance that one time YOU’D BE GUILTY OF SIN!  So for the failings of the few, the Freedom of all needs to be constrained.

Because they’re all pansies and couldn’t put on their big girl pants if they were hit in the face with them (by a law abiding citizen, of course).
