"Civility of discourse" is a red herring when done either by the Left OR the Right - Granite Grok

“Civility of discourse” is a red herring when done either by the Left OR the Right

Ah yes, Political Correctness can run amok – and this demonstrates that the wielding of the Political Castration club can and is used by both sides of the aisle.  And frankly, it is becoming quite boring.  In fact, I really wasn’t going to say much about this until I read this:

“We really are a bunch of wimps these days if we aren’t able to put our differences in spirited language. Churchill used to say that he liked people who grin when they fight, and the scene of the prime minister’s “question time” in the House of Commons is certainly a spectacle of “incivility” by American standards. Needless to say, there is virtually no one on the left (except for Jon Stewart, who often zings liberals) who has the zest and twinkle of Rush Limbaugh. What’s really going on here is the tacit demand by the left, steadily losing arguments and political ground, that conservatives unilaterally disarm.”

What a great line: “who grin when they fight“!  That describes folks who relish the battle – in the blogosphere, the fight about ideals and philosophy.  And yes, to a large degree, we here at the ‘Grok do relish the give and take – and why not?  We ARE in an ideological war with the Left, with the neo-Marxists, the Socialists, and the Progressives (no matter which side of the aisle they belong; make no mistake – there are Progressive Republicans that will do as much harm to the Founding Fathers’ philosophy of limited govt and individual freedom as the most bug-eyed World govt, union member, Internationalist)
