Civil Asset Forfeiture – A NH Cash Grab You Are Helpless to Prevent

aa-asset-forfeiture-great-oneAccording to the Institute for Justice, New Hampshire seizes an average of $900,000.00 dollars a year in private property under Civil Asset Forfeiture laws, which give law enforcement the power to permanently seize and keep your cash, cars, property, any asset at all, by simply claiming that it is suspected of being involved in a crime.

You do not need to be charged with a crime nor go to trial.  Law enforcement can seize your property; take your car, kick you or your family out of your home.

It is then up to you to prove otherwise, an expensive battle you will probably lose if you can even afford to engage in it, after which various levels of Law Enforcement and the bureaucracy liquidate your seized asset(s) and divide the spoils between them.

New Hampshire gets a grade of ‘D,’ by the way, on this injustice, but NH  HB 1609 is a bi-partisan bill that would end civil asset forfeiture in New Hampshire.   Kevin Bloom is scheduled to join us live on GrokTALK! / GrokTV! this Saturday at 9:30a, EST to discuss the bill and the issue.
