Notable Quote – Ted Cruz

Concerning standing on Principle and the extremely possible negative outcome for voting for Amnesty:

“If the House turns around and passes a giant amnesty deal that doesn’t secure the border and grants amnesty, they might as well go and put ‘Harry Reid for Majority Leader’ bumper stickers on the backs of their cars,” Cruz warned, “because it would be kicking conservatives, kicking the Tea Party, kicking millions of Americans in the teeth to make that same mistake again. So I hope they don’t do it.”

“Refuse to stand for principle” exactly describes what this is all about. As well as lacking in brains, Republicans all too often are found to be lacking in guts.”

– US Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Voting for illegal alien amnesty in any form and US House and US Senate Republicans will be severely punished.  I also believe that State level down ticket Republicans will see the votes that make up their “floor” will simply disappear.  Why?  back in in 2011, Pew had this: (H/T: Hot Air)

Working poor want help from republicans

So ask yourself, Republican Leadership – you legalize 12 million low level low skilled illegal immigrants who are willing to work for less (and overwhelming will vote for Democrats by every poll that I have seen), what are those > $30,000 Republican leaning Americans going to do?  That’s right – they will blame Republicans for taking their livelihoods out at the knees.  They will seek out retribution all over your butts.  They don’t want handouts, they want policies that allow themselves to provide for themselves and their families.  Amnesty is 180 degrees in the opposite direction.

Here’s a perfect opportunity for the Republican Party to show it is “the Party of Opportunity” – will it, or will it once again show it is the Party of Stupid?  Will it be policies that encourage employment and paths to allow Joe and Jane Sixpack by getting onerous regulations out of their way?  Or tell them “screw, we want a new base”?

And of course, a lot of us more upscale Republicans will do the same, just on principle.  Remember, the US Chamber of Commerce may have lots of bucks and may well influence some voters.  But in the end, voters vote, not dollars (as we just saw here in NH’s special election, where in the Republican primary, the money underdog Joe Kenney just won over Chris Boothby.  Whom I may add, it seemed like all of the Establishment Republicans helped him outspend Joe 4 or 5-1.

So I ask the very pregnant question: if the Establishment Republicans lost, who won (snicker)?

And I ask the very pregnant future question: if Amnesty passes, which Republicans will keep their seats (hint: doubtful that there would be an e, t, b, h, m, or t describing that wing of the Party)?
