I grow weary of this….

(H/T: Mediaite, reformatted, emphasis mine):

Jimmy LaSalvia, the founder of the conservative gay advocacy group GOProud, has officially announced his departure from the Republican Party. “Today, I joined the ranks of unaffiliated voters. I am every bit as conservative as I’ve always been, but I just can’t bring myself to carry the Republican label any longer,” LaSalvia wrote. “You see, I just don’t agree with the big-government ‘conservatives’ who run the party now.”

I grow weary of them, too. Good choice, maybe, but now it will be harder to change it from the inside.  Trust me, I know the feeling – which way is the better one?

He also cited the GOP’s “tolerance of bigotry” as a reason for his departure. “The current leadership lacks the courage to stand up to it,” he lamented, “I’m not sure they ever will.” LaSalvia remarked upon his successful efforts to “create an atmosphere on the right where conservatives can openly support gay Americans and even support same-sex marriage,” but noted there is “more work to do” to “root out the anti-gay and other forms of bigotry in the party.”

I grow weary of this, too.  Three axis to contemplate:

  • The X axis – Conventional: Right vs Left,   Conservative / Constitutionalism vs Progressivism / Socialism / Communinistic.
  • The Y axis – the Real Difference:  Freedom vs Totalitarianism.  Liberty vs Serfdom.  Sovereign Citizen vs Apparatchik
  • The Z axis – right from wrong.  Morals – who gets to set the standard?  Who is forcing them to change?

While I have not talked with the gentleman, most times “anti-gay” means “you’re a bigot because you are against gay marriage”.  It means, in a lot of cases, “you are not allowed to have your own religious beliefs anymore when they stand in the way of our agenda.”  The Statist Obama wishes to fundamentally change our religious beliefs by denying our First Amendment Right to religious freedom of expression (re: HHS Obamacare mandate on contraceptives and abortifacients) and denigrate our clinging to our Bible.  Here, we are denigrated for our belief and clinging to our Bibles for refusing to reject the Right and Wrong of our Christian beliefs.

I’m not going to persecute anyone.  Do what you want in your own home.  But stop trying to force me to alter my beliefs simply for your agenda and “acceptance” (under threat of cultural or legal coercion).  Acceptance under duration is no acceptance at all.

Every social issue has a fiscal cost.  The left uses social issues to intimidate, to destroy traditional values, and force change.  Each has a cost – different in aspect, but a cost nonetheless.  WHY does the Left want us to cede social issues to them?  For cell bars.

So why does the Right wish to allow them to do that?
