Campbell Ducks And Runs But Can He Get Out From Under the Irony?

5 Series Silver BMW The ultimate Duck Hunting Machine
I don’t always “take Ducks” illegally with my Car and then run away and hide, but when I do…

Drew Cline is talking to Michael Graham on the air about Duck-Gate, Nashua NH Democrat David Campbell, Police commissioner Tom Pappas, and the scandal after the otherwise unfortunate death of five ducks at the hand of a New Hampshire House Democrat.  We’ve been having all kinds of fun at Rep. Campbell’s expense with regard to the duck-related negligence, but Drew brings up two points that I forgot to mention.

Campbell is the chair of the NH House Transportation committee (zoom-zoom).  And one of  his pet issues… is distracted driving.

I’ve written more than a few posts in contradiction to Campbell’s nanny-esqe, populist spin on distracted driving  so thanks to Drew for the reminder, and the fresh metallic taste of irony!

The Democrat NH House Transportation chair, who pushed the anti-texting bill for years until it finally passed, and is probably involved in the 2014 session effort to ban cell phone use in cars that is not hands-free*, accidentally ran over five ducks in front of a hotel, abandoned his car in the hotel parking lot, wandered off on foot to his near-by office, and instead of calling the cops was swept away to a secret location with “no phones” to sleep off his (likely) intoxicated state on Christmas eve, by a close friend who just happens to be one of three police Commissioners for the city of Nashua where the incident occurred.

The public interest story of an unfortunate event has become a cover-up brimming with irony.

There are a new round of questions for the NH Democrat and his pal the Police Commissioner–it’s Duck-Gate “The Resurrection!

*Don’t be fooled, this is Lefty incrementalism at work.  Obama/NTSB wants to ban all cell phone use in motor vehicles.  This is just the next step after texting.
