Once again, Government has acted to both split up families and have smaller ones if they survive

Obamacare-ScrewedAs Rush points out, it is the Left that has been, continues to, and will continue to attack what used to be seen as the main building block of both Civil Society and our Republic – the traditional family of a committed husband/ father and wife / mother that own the main responsibility of raising their children (and NOT that of “the village” or that those kids “belong to us all”).  Government Welfare (“the dole”) of LBJ’s “Great Society” effectively castaway that committed husband; he left so that his family could get “aid” .  This has all but destroyed the urban Black families and is rapidly doing the same to other minorities and poor whites as well.  The MSM and Pop Culture Gatekeepers (magazines, Hollywood) extoll the excitement of cheating on your loved ones and the “Greed is Good” mentality.  Religion, which once formed a common public morality” is under attack and the selfish ideologies of the 60s are now running amok (love that word, amok)  full blown in this “All about ME!” mentality and ALL authority is not just suspect, but to be the object of an outright revolt.  To wit – to heck with anything traditional and that goes against the Left’s morality is that Government is your Friend, your Daddy, your Husband, your Protector, and God.

I’ve said for a while now that Obama’s updated EPA regulations on MPG cars were going to further kill off Social Security.  After all, SS was dependent on there being WAY more workers than retirees – a reality that no longer exists.  High MPG cars MUST be smaller – think the SMART car that hold 2 adults and a bag of groceries.  Go ahead, try putting more than a single car seat on that horizontal slab called a back seat – oh wait! There isn’t one!

Now comes Obamacare – higher premiums and worse coverage than what you have now.  Sure, I’ve heard several thousands now have coverage – and now over 5 million have lost theirs.  Jobs have been pared down or outright deleted from company payrolls.  That latter fact, no job, will keep many potential families to be just that – potential means “not existing in reality”.

Sidenote: Obamacare ‘subsidies’ will also affect the size of families.  I’ve looked at our numbers – it is financially more productive for my “family” (TMEW and I) to become an “Obamacare family” – the numbers demand that we legally divorce else we pay a “high implied marginal tax” via a lack of subsidies.  She would get a very substantial subsidy if I left her.  Nice to see that, once again, Government is doing all it can to keep families together.  That’s OK, they’d have yet another single woman completely dependent on Government.

Thanks be to Obama for bringing us to this anti-family nexus in our history.  Remember, NEVER listen to his words – only watch his results.

Not only will higher premiums scare folks to have smaller families but so will the deductibles.  The horror story coming just from Obama’s destruction of the individual market place (which often isn’t an individual but is a family plan) gives us anecdotes of high deductibles.  Common are those going from $3,000 – $5,000 per person per year.  So, do the simple math – for a 4 person family, that’s $12,000-$20,000 PER YEAR before the insurance ever kicks in to pay a dime (but would pay for one of those SMART cars every year!).  Essentially, if your premium is $500-$1,200 / month / family, you are paying $6,000 – $14,400 / year for the privilege of paying that $20,000 out of your own pocket.

How many families can pay that, can afford that?  Darn few and the only argument that the Obamabots can weakly muster is “Subsidy!”.  True enough, but only up to a limit and that ONLY applies to the premiums – Obama is leaving middle class families to fend for themselves on the deductibles.  He’s snickering – his angry redistribution will do exactly that – leave them vulnerable to bankruptcy due to medical expenses.

And that’s my point – families aren’t stupid and will act (mostly) rationally.  They WILL have fewer children – if they have any, they may leave it to an only child simply because Government has skewed it to be that.  Not many people will be able to afford a single car that can carry three or more kids plus Mom & Dad thanks to the EPA & DOT – and doubtful they’d buy two cars to do the same thing.   Now we see the second prong of the pitchfork stabbing families where it hurts.

In essence, via these back doors, Government is telling you how big of a family you can have.

And Social Security will be in more and more trouble.
