MAYBE they ARE listening – Consistency

FINALLY – a “yay! in that the boat may be swinging about.  We’ve been pounding on NH Republicans and the NH GOP on the truism: Consistency + Trust = Votes (all other things being equal).  But first, you have to ACT Consistently, and talk Consistently, and if you can master that (it really isn’t all that rocket scientist difficult), it becomes easier to “comment” on your opponents’ Inconsistency (heck, we’ve been doing it for….years now).  They may actually be starting to get with the program – and maybe can go on the offensive and not look the fools (as someone on their side is doing the same thing).

Now let’s be clear – Scott Brown may have been the most Conservative guy that could get elected in Massachusetts but New Hampshire isn’t Massachusetts (yet) and the definition of Conservative that works there is, well, rather lame here (e.g., go here).  But hey, go with me here for a bit: the NH Dems are in High Dungeon over the comings and goings of Mr. Brown thinking that he’s going to run for something here in NH, especially against Jeanne Shaheen an take her Senate seat.  So, now they’re in all-out attack mode to demonize him – but are looking like they are in All-Flail mode.  Problem is, they forgot they have a 6 to watch out for – and are now showing their lack of InConsistency, gave a wide open gateway to their opposition.  From DiStaso (emphasis mine, reformatted):

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 11: NHDP: “SHADOW LOBBYIST” BROWN. In advance of former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown’s next appearance in New Hampshire next week, the state Democratic Party is launching web ads, an online petition and “organizing tools” challenging him to disclose his client list.  Brown joined the law firm of Nixon Peabody earlier this year and although he is not a registered lobbyist, the firm said he would use his Washington contacts to create business for the firm.

The NHDP says that makes Brown a “shadow lobbyist.”

So, just on the “idea”, just out of fear, just on a whim, and on no actual basis to start (what, like they need one?  Ray Buckley and Hatchetman Shaheen  (that would be Jeanne’s uber-political hubby, Billy) would never let anything like facts or the actual truth stop them).  What ordinary non-politician person who is gainfully employed is gonna disclose his firm’s client list for the like of these crude scum (hey, I’m only using their vocabulary, except they’d be using a different “S” word, along with a few others).  Really, a “shadow lobbyist”?  That’s supposed to be the Evil of Most Evil?

Brown has not ruled out the possibility of running for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire, has sold his home in Massachusetts and is expected to eventually become a resident of New Hampshire. He has long owned a home in Rye.  He has set up a political action committee in the state and has helped raise money for Republicans.

Although Brown is not a candidate for office in the state, the Democrats say “the people of New Hampshire deserve to know which special interests are lining shadow lobbyist Scott Brown’s pockets since he left the Senate.”

Shall we start in on the Dems that have also been “shadow lobbyists”? Hmm, I remember someone else that was doing lobbying here in NH, did it for a while, and also has a place in DC (although not as lofty a position as a Senator).  That would be Klueless Kuster, right?

…The NHDP says it will be using “paid advertisements and online organizing tools,” including an online petition, “to convince Brown to disclose whose side he’s on and tell New Hampshire how he has been getting rich selling his government experience and influence to corporate special interests.”

Now, for the sake of Consistency, will Buckley do the same?  After all, I’ve heard rumors that he’s gonna run for Kelly’s seat (Gee, you HAVEN’T HEARD THAT?  My goodness)?  So, who has Buckley been raising the millions he’s been bringing into NH – New Hampshireites HAVE to know?  After all, he’s used all that money to “fundamentally transform” NH from its traditional roots to be nothing more than just another Progressive State (he’s too lazy to move to NY, MA, CO, or CA, I guess).  And Jeanne’s Billy has been doing similar things for decades – ante up!

Brown did not immediately respond to the Democrats.

State Republican Party Chairman Jennifer Horn said the Democrats were “desperate to distract attention” from Democratic U.S. Rep. Ann Kuster and what Horn called Kuster’s well-publicized “embarrassing attempt to dodge” a citizen’s question about the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. A video of the Nov. 25 question-and-answer session at the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire, taken by a former Republican state lawmaker, had received nearly 270,000 views by Wednesday afternoon.  Horn also cited Kuster’s former “career as a highly paid corporate lobbyist.”

“For over 20 years, Congresswoman Kuster lobbied for big corporations and even for a foreign pharmaceutical company that manufactures ‘roofies’ – an illegal drug that has been used to sexually assault women,” Horn said. “Nobody can take the Democrats desperate attacks seriously given Congresswoman Annie Kuster’s lobbying record.”

There’s one.  And another one – same deal as Scott Brown.  What makes it delicious is that he’s not officially running for any office either – or is that “yet”?  Is he bidding his time?  After all, he spends his time talking to other politicians, involved or talking with folks in PACs, and talking other political operatives – aren’t those the marks of someone ready to set to run for something:

The Republicans also noted that Bill Shaheen, the husband of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is a self-described “government relations and lobbying attorney,” which “would make him a ‘shadow lobbyist’ according to the New Hampshire Democrat Party,” said NHGOP executive director Matt Mowers. “Nobody can take the Democrats seriously given the glaring hypocrisy of their desperate attacks.”

Nicely done, Matt – you get an “atta-boy”! After all, our motto is “Spank’em when they’re wrong and Thank’em when they’re right” – and they did right here and acted right beforehand.   See, if our side can keep our noses clean, it makes it ever so much easier to bash the other side with their own skillet!  But that takes Consistency on Principles and on the pragmatic actions stemming from those Principles – and the Rs haven’t been showing that lately.  This time, they have the perfect opportunity and the “clean noses” to take advantage of it.

Gee, I love this game.
