It showed – even the House Republicans didn’t read their own bill

At least my Senator Kelly Ayotte did – real quick, too.  The DC Republicans deserve all the opprobrium that has come their way for the cutting of the Armed Service members retirement monies after either serving their 20 plus years or getting medical’d out.  There is no doubt that most of the real Lefty Democrats hate the military – they’d fire them all in a heartbeat.  But, I imagine they were plenty happy to make it less palatable to serve.  But for political reasons, NOW there is this rush to ‘fix it”:

Several bills have been introduced in the House this week that would restore cuts made to military retirees’ benefits.

Lawmakers have complained that a provision in the Bipartisan Budget Agreement, H.J. Res. 59 — which was passed into law last week — reduces the cost of living adjustment (COLA) by 1 percent for military retirees under the age of 62.

The reduction was made to replace $6 billion in sequester cuts to the Department of Defense’s budget.

Do I have this straight?  The Lawmakers, who wrote this, who voted on it, are now complaining about it?  Really?  Did they not learn ANYTHING from the passage of Obamacare when Madam Pelosi gloriously stated “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it”?  Especially the US House Republicansdid not a single one of them read that provision and poke the others in the ribs and go “Oops – we just aimed political claymores at ourselves!“?   Demonstrably not.

Nope – they were all too willing to avoid yet another confrontation with the Democrats, all too willing to save their political butts in those seats to do the one thing they are sent to do.  Yet again, we see that ALL of them were all too willing to NOT do their jobs and read the bill.  What kind of Legislature do we have in DC – backroom deals, don’t post the bill for review (like the Republicans promised to do), don’t bother to read the thing, but upon winning the vote, go all “thumbs pulling out the suspenders and strut”, and proclaim “what a good boy (or gal) am I!”.  If they had actually read the bill, this could have been avoided – easily.  So yet another way we can tell that they aren’t paying attention to detail

Lawlessness.  Sad, real sad, that we have to live under the Laws they don’t know their passing – a very real form of Lawlessness.  We send them to Concord or to DC to read what gets passed, to debate them, adapt them, and then and ONLY then, vote on them.  Not doing any of that yields laws that are like Obamacare – and we see the Lawlessness of Obama and his Administration during the roll out – and all that Congress does is mew that Obama is sidestepping them.

So if Obama isn’t following the law, if Congress is crafting Law, why do we have pay them attention?  If they are setting the example that lawlessness is now the new norm, why shouldn’t we be following their lead?  A most serious question with serious ramifications, but with the drift out of DC of transferring from the Rule of Law to the Rule of the Strong Man, what IS the message they send?

Or haven’t they read those tea leaves either?
