Don't all those 23,000 workers-to-be know they are wrong? And Walmart is EVIL? - Granite Grok

Don’t all those 23,000 workers-to-be know they are wrong? And Walmart is EVIL?

At every turn, I keep hearing from the community organizer and unionista types that working at Wally World – how can those folks let Walmart DO those evil things like pay them poorly and unable to support themselves without Government assistance?  Never knowing their hours, moved around like cattle, no room for advancement (scratching head here – where DO all those supervisors, department manager, store managers, district managers all come from ??) – a veritable sweatshop selling nothing but low priced goods to “Walmart People”.   The indignity of it all!  After all, Liberal establishments ALL pay much better (oh wait, about that Leftist mag called Mother Jones….).

But somebody (lots of bodies, in fact) didn’t catch the message:

Occupy Wall Street has joined union thugs and other socialist anti-capitalists to protest Walmart providing jobs for millions of Americans recently. The economically challenged troglodytes don’t seem to understand, or care, that imposing an artificial minimum wage on a free market will only hurt employees and consumers. …Washington D.C. is the perfect example – it has absolutely medieval standards of wealth distribution, devastating rates of unemployment, but fabulously wealthy government employees. When Walmart announced plans to open stores there, the socialist City Council voted to force them to pay $12.50 an hour in wages and benefits, which would have driven them out of town.  Luckily, the mayor was bright enough to veto the measure, and today, two stores opened up to more than 200 people waiting to get their low priced goods:

The Walmart stores will bring some 600 sorely needed jobs to the area, which generated an incredible 23,000 applications. This is heavily pro-Obama area, and yet their leftist representatives are dying to kill 600 jobs for 23,000 Americans and families.

That’s an acceptance rate of 2.6%, applicant to job.  Heck, that rivals acceptance into elite colleges, doesn’t it?  And they all decided that working for Walmart was better than other places – or better than the Government dole.  It often shows that the ordinary people DO know what is best for them – glad to hear that they aren’t listening to the “union thugs and other socialist anti-capitalists” who are out for themselves and their ideologies and not really for people who are satisfied with what they see is an acceptable trade in wages for their time and labor.

THAT is what capitalism is all about – voluntary associations and exchanges.
