A fact – but not an answer

WMURAdvantage Guinta in the “Answer the Question” category.  Host of WMUR’s Closeup, Josh McElveen, asked what I thought was a simple straight-forward to US Senator Kelly Ayotte:  Is there a collective unity or is it still as fractured as it was Nov 7?

Well, you know, just like any place, there are divergent views within a Party.

C’mon! It’s not like it’s a secret or anything – I’ve been blogging about this topic for a while. Not only that, but the NH Media is oft covering the same (after all, many are Democrat operatives with bylines, as Glen Reynolds is oft to say) and like to turn that shiv a little at a time.  Or, just read / watch / listen to the media that seemingly delights in reporting that Karl Rove and the US Chamber of Commerce are raising 10s if not 100s of millions of bucks to “fight” the Liberty and Freedom wing of the Republican Party (e.g., loudmouth US Representative Peter King is a great example, if you need one).

But I think what we need to do is make sure to focus on, really, the core principles of the Republican Party: fiscal responsibility, making sure that we have economic growth and jobs by creating the best climate in the world for you to grow your business, thrive and grow here in NH and across the country, and strongly defending our nation. That’s been my focus in the Senate and I have found many like-minded individuals that want to work on those issue not only the Republican Party but looking for opportunities across the aisle to solve problems for America – that’s what’s needs to happen and I hope to be a strong voice within our Party that we need to be problem-solvers and that we need that we show the American people why our principles make sense and why they are going to provide a better future for America.

Kelly rightly stood up in opposition over the decrease in the military pensions – the Republicans role in that fiasco will not soon be forgotten and I can guarantee that it will be an election issue in 2014.

Sidenote: certainly if ANY Federal employees deserve what they get, it is the military.  What was Paul Ryan thinking (and the Republican leadership) when they passed this out of the US House?  Only thing I can think of AND believe was their own personal careers – just to show that craveness knows no aisle, even if cloaked in “compromise and partisanship” that effectively screws your REAL natural allies (the military) vs the hoped for replacement for the current base – via illegal alien amnesty.

But the rest of her answer?  Mostly boilerplate.  Yeah, minority in the Senate – hard to lead when you’re behind.  But I don’t think that “looking for opportunities across the aisle” spiel is gonna convince a lot of the conservative base here in NH – not after her public screaming at those ON her side of the aisle – like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and the like.  How about mending, in a very public fashion, those fences first before looking to the Democrats.

Who, like with this latest “bipartisan compromise”, effectively killed the only recent legislation that made the Federal Government spend less – the Sequester?  Yeah, killing the Sequestor – that solved……WHICH problem, exactly?  Remember, only in DC and among the Political Ruling Class was the “Slimdown” (85% of all Fed Employees still were “essential”) a big deal.  For the general population?  Most didn’t even know what happened (and if you didn’t know, it didn’t kill the economy like Obama and the Dems claimed it would).

BTW, I notice that too, the US Chamber of Commerce, thought it was a big deal – I guess that’s one of the reasons why they are attacking the TEA Party base now – it’s members are hooked on that Government crack money.  Which brings up another question for US Senator Kelly Ayotte based on what she said to McElveen (“ making sure that we have economic growth and jobs by creating the best climate in the world for you to grow your business“):

Are you in favor of Big Business / Crony Capitalism or do you really support a true Free Marketplace (and the two are mutually exclusive)?

Can you solve that problem – first?  Please?
