Why do Socialists always want to redefine the language to make themselves seem "like us"? - Granite Grok

Why do Socialists always want to redefine the language to make themselves seem “like us”?

It is their version of a “poker tell”?

I’ve often noticed, and written, that Progressives (re: incremental Socialists), like all totalitarians before them, can never ever use words with the same meanings that the rest of us understand in common use.  How often has the Clintonian political meme “It depends on what the meaning of the words ‘is’ is.”  Always shading the word usage to make us think one thing while actually meaning another – linguistic Houdinis having folks think “over there” when the action is “over here“.

Like Sebelius in her testimony in front of Congress today

In an effort to blunt criticism as millions of Americans receive notice that their health care plans have been canceled, Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius has started referring to the terminations as “plan turnover.” In an exchange with Senator Mike Enzi (R., Wyo.), she repeatedly used the phrase to argue that President Obama has not broken his promise that people could keep their preferred plans.

“If indeed the plans turned over, and this is a market, you heard Senator Nelson, and he and I served together as insurance commissioners, talk about churn in the market and the plan turnover,” Sebelius said in testimony before the Senate Finance Committee, “if plans in this market changed over and over again since 2010, then insurers have been on notice since 2010 that they needed to come into compliance with the same exact consumers protections that are in the small-group market, in the employer market, in every other part of health insurance, it just wasn’t available to individuals who were out shopping on their own.”

“Plan turnover” is among the new phrases Democrats have employed as mitigation to the controversial promise; others have describing the cancellation notices as “transition” or “conversion letters.”

“You can keep it.  Period.” – millions of people are now seeing cancellations of their healthcare plans simply because they were lulled into somnlence thinking that their Government would never ever decide to do social engineering on this scale on a Free People.  In fact, our Government lied, they are, we will die, and they are trying to make us believe that wet feeling on our backs merely rain with a huge dose of food coloring in it (hey, it’s just “sustainable recycling” – see, two can play this game too!)

Promise – A man’s word used to be his bond – his word of honor.  It was not to be broken.  Obama and his merry gang of healthcare socialists have fundamentally transformed that meaning into something that sounds alike but really is only a short term political delaying tactic CYA until the coup is done.

Marketplace / Market – A place that used to be where voluntary transactions happened between free people: I will pay you for that at a I price I believe is fair; you will sell it to me only because you think you are getting a good deal too”.  Now it is a place that the Government has set up, you have to use it, accept their terms (and only their terms), and pay the price they demand.  Or they will sic the IRS on you.  Such a deal.  The Socialist idea is to destroy the voluntary one, replace it with a Government one, and think us stupid enough to think it is a marketplace (oh, it is, but a rigged one with a predefined outcome – can’t you feel that rain on your back?).

Plan Turnover – Used to be a capitalist tool (real capitalism and not the slur that Socialists want you to believe it is) where the Producer has recognized that market conditions have changed and their offering must change to meet it.  Again, it depended on a voluntary acceptance – change it for the ‘better’ and more people would buy it – the converse brings bankruptcy and given that the marketplace abhors a vacuum, another vender would replace them (“creative destruction”).

Turned Over – goods and services are replaced all the time in capitalistic systems.  In Socialism, for Obamacare, this means the Government made them go away, it arbitrarily made it obsolete by regulatory fiat.  By the way, it’s raining again.

Consumer Protections – used to be that Government was the umpire: rules cop.  Fair to both sides and easy to understand (“if I turn it on, it actually turns on.  It does what the Producer said it would.  If not, Government stepped in).  Now, it’s the case the Government decides what can be produced and how and what we choices we have left.  Gosh, that rain is starting to get more steady, isn’t it.

Wasn’t available to individuals who were out shopping on their own.”:  This is getting tedious – this is just Governmental bureaucrateese that implements Equality but under its own terms (and not ours)

Transition / conversion letters: used to be a function of a voluntary marketplace – something is being replace (see Plan turnover).  In this case, Sebelius and cohort can’t come up with enough words to say “Crap, they brought too many flashlights to our screw up!!”  They can’t

Should I be trusting my Government approved umbrella – this rain is torrential!

Which brings us back to what a promise is – taking someone at their word.  Didn’t know that Obama and Sebelius were rainmakers on us…
