The Indoctrination Of Academia And Another Poignant Reminder

“The very power of [textbook writers] depends on the fact that they are dealing with a boy: a boy who thinks he is ‘doing’ his ‘English prep’ and has no notion that ethics, theology, and politics are all at stake. It is not a theory they put into his mind, but an assumption, which ten years hence, its origin forgotten and its presence unconscious, will condition him to take one side in a controversy which he has never recognized as a controversy at all.” ? C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

111513_GonzagaEducational Corruption abounds. Ergo, Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington. What is Gonzaga University? A visit to Gonzaga’s website reveals a college like so many others, wrapped in themes of tolerance and diversity…in other words, its the same as any other…Liberal and left-wing, progressive, long ago abandoning its Roman Catholic Jesuit roots.

Eric Fagan and Daniel McIntosh are students at Gonzaga and live off campus in an apartment that Gonzaga University happens to own. On the night of October 24 Fagan and McIntosh were home in their apartment when there was a knock at the door. Opening the door Fagan was faced with a stranger who was asking for fifteen dollars, stating that he had just gotten out of jail. Fagan offered the man a blanket and a can of food, but was not comfortable giving him him money. Fagan said to CNN affiliate KXLY,  “My gut instinct was telling me I wasn’t going to be able to get that door closed before he came through.” As the man pushed through the door, Fagan called out to his roommate Daniel McIntosh who came holding his handgun. The suspect fled.  The two students called 911 and Campus Security. Spoke Police captured the suspect shortly thereafter.

Six-Time Felon John Taylor
Six-Time Felon John Taylor

The intruder, John Taylor  is a six-time convicted felon with an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant. University housing, is patrolled at regular intervals by campus security. The complex Fagan and McIntosh reside in however, is neither gated, nor secured from entry by use of key cards or codes as other university buildings are. Daniel McIntosh is the holder of a state-issued concealed carry license.

So just to recap…Two Engineering students who share an apartment are “visited” by a six-time felon seeking money and attempts to gain entry by force.  A resident of the apartment stops the threat by coming to bear with an handgun, which he lawfully possesses, in his place of domicile and sends the thug running. No shots fired….No shots fired….Police captures the suspect, identifying him and slap him back in Jail…All’s well that ends well, right? NOT SO FAST…

Fagan and Mcintosh were later informed that having a firearm on university-owned property, is a violation of Gonzaga policy, whether or not that property is located on campus.  At 2:00 a.m. the following morning, campus security officers returned to the apartment and confiscated McIntosh’s pistol and Fagan’s shotgun.  The shotgun was not used in the incident.

Based on their act of self-defense and preservation, McIntosh and Fagan faced explusion, but were placed on probation for the rest of their time at Gonzaga, a penalty that will be a part of their permanent record.  They are appealing.

gonzaga-universityThis is corrupt, but hardly surprising as evidenced by the college’s utter lack of response, commentary or position on the fact that a six-time violent felon attempted to criminally invade two of their student’s residence. Gonzaga instead, focused on the fact that the students “lawfully” possessed firearms counter to their less than clear or disclosed policy of no firearms.  This nations colleges and universities are long overdue for an educational enema. I am disgusted.
