Still more evidence that the Establishment has declared war on its own

That would be the GOP going after the TEA Party – how DARE you try to remove us from our Jr. Party seats?    The Washington Examiner has the take from a 42 year Senator that has no problem in being honest as to what he will be doing upon seeing “barbarians at his gate”.  Forty-two years – certainly long enough to have helped overseen the tremendous growth of the Welfare state.  Well, certainly long enough to have a hand on the lever of power that most TEA Partiers do not have: lots and lots of millions of dollars.  And to keep themselves in power, they are not afraid of using it (emphasis mine, reformatted):

The Republican Party of Iowa was blindsided by the Tea Party movement in the last presidential election, but party officials are already working hard to diminish the conservative movement’s influence by the time the next presidential primary rolls around in 2016, Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa said.

“I think the Tea Party people in Iowa caught them off guard,” Grassley said of the state party in an interview on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers.”  Grassley said many Iowa Republicans “have been dissatisfied with the direction of the Republican Party in Iowa and are prepared to get more involved this time to counter the Tea Party influence.”

All Republicans, Mr. Grassley – or just YOUR wing of the party that are, well, feeling rather insecure?  Nice to see that “countering” the wing that has brought the energy and motivation to the Party is of more importance than “countering”, umm, those that are drifting us to a Socialist hellhole.

“What we need to do is energize the Republican Party all over,” Grassley said. “That doesn’t exclude Tea Party people, but it means everybody who likes the Republican Party and our principles needs to get activated.”

Hmm, the last time I looked, and heard, it is the TEA Party that actually believes in the Principles.  In fact, this schism has occurred as many of us see them (yup, this has turned into a them vs us scenario) as only giving lip service to them when the cameras and mics are around.  These dunderheads haven’t figured out that it is their ACTIONS, running contra to those Principles (along with a lack of results), that caused the TEA Party to start its activity within the Party.  We aligned with the Republicans because of the philosophy stated in their Platform – who knew that they had long left that in the dust and concentrated solely on the acquisition of power?

Grassley, who is running for a seventh term in 2014, said he hasn’t decided who he’d back in the next presidential contest. But his influence in a state that casts the first votes of a presidential election will make him a sought-after endorsement.  When asked about the presidential prospects of newly re-elected New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, Grassley said Christie “would be a welcome candidate in Iowa.”  His appeal, Grassley said, stems from his success as governor, “and he’s been able to work with both political parties and he’s shown considerable success.”

And how has that worked out in furthering a march back to Constitutional values?  Which way has that Overton Window moved?

Grassley, who considers himself conservative, rejected the “moderate” label Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and others have tried to attach to Christie to suggest he would have trouble winning a primary process dominated by conservatives. Christie allowed same-sex marriage to advance in New Jersey and embraced President Obama in the final weeks of the 2012 election.

And most Democrats see Obama as a moderate pragmatist instead of the full blown Leftist he is (with the past that supports that) – go figure.

Grassley, hoping Iowa picks a winner next time around, said the Tea Party’s insurgency has shaken up the state’s Republican Party, motivating the party to get more involved in the next primary “so that we can be a more major force not only in Iowa but in the nation as a whole.”

Notice the slight – the subtle carve out of  TEA Party from the Party.  “Motivating the party to get more involved in the next primary” leading to the insinuation that “and we will be better without the TEA Party”.  I just keep saying:

We may not win but you will certainly lose

as the same old same old hold among the Party Elite: “Where else would they go – the Democrats”?  And they just don’t get it – they are often seen as merely being the Jr. Party in the whole welfare shooting match.  We see in their legislation their willingness to be extra-Constitutional, their willingness to decry the Democrat Cronyism (only to replace them with their own brand of Cronyism).  Free Markets?  Where’s the grift in that?  Putting the hammer down and actually DECREASE the size of Govt (instead of mere flapping of gums on doing it and only succeeding in barely slowing its growth).

A lack of action behind the words.
