State of the Gun Control Debate

“I don’t believe people should be able to own guns,”—President Barack H. Obama (Then Professor of law in Chicago speaking to John Lott)

Obama AngryIn case anyone should still have doubts that our sitting President is a charlatan, one needs only to look to his activities over the past year.

In the aftermath of the Washington D.C. Navy Yard shooting, President Obama turned the memorial service into a political platform for his gun control agenda. He cites the UK and Australia as examples of what America should consider for tighter gun control measures.

This administration is all about all things gun control. make no mistake about it. Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s signing of the United Nations Arms Treaty gives yet more evidence of this regime’s aim. Even if the United States never ratifies this treaty, there are implications contained in the treaty that are profound. For example, for the U.S. to receive firearms from a foreign nation signatory to this treaty, receivers would be required to furnish lists of the end users for these firearms: A defacto gun registration scheme.

Back on September 22, decrying the DC Navy Yard Shooting, Obama declared, ” (this) ought to lead to some form of transformation.” praising Australia’s and the UK’s gun ban and confiscation.

I wrote extensively about Australia and Britain’s Gun control measures and their aftermath here on the Grok. On November 13, I reposted my January 22 article discussing this very notion. The sources in that entry cites Australia’s Bureau of Criminology, UK’s Home Office and FBI.gov crime statistics. Plainly stated, while UK and Australia instituted Gun bans and confiscation, crime skyrocketed. Inversely, while the U.S. expanded citizens rights to possess and own firearms, crime fell 54%.

Let us take a look at headlines prior to the DC. Navy Yard shooting in Australia:

And in the UK…

This year has proved to be a year rife with the Charlatanry of the gun control crowd. A new assualt weapons ban was defeated in both houses and on April 17 we were treated to the temper tantrum and angry Obama rant over defeat of sought draconian measure.

The Bloomberg “No More Names” bus tour rolled into New Hampshire and lawmakers and other charlatans lined up to read names off the list. The problem is terrorists, cop killers,  thugs and violent criminals were included in that list.  The “No More Names Tour eventually apologized for that. Bloomberg staff worked feverishly to scrub the list, reducing it by half.  By the end of the tour, the “No More Names” bus tour fizzled, many times finding itself outnumbered by Second Amendment Supporters two-to-one. Countless Mayors around the country abandoned the Bloomberg effort.

Finally, (and locally) a local moonbat E. Elaine Andrews-Ahern sought an LSR to outlaw so-called, “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines…requiring registration for currently owned firearms.

As 2013 comes to a close, do know these moonbats have not abandoned their efforts. Stay strong, stay vigilant and stay informed.
