Paul Mirski Endorses Marilinda Garcia For Congress - Granite Grok

Paul Mirski Endorses Marilinda Garcia For Congress

I support Marilinda Garcia for NH’s Second Congressional District seat 110%.

She’s a social conservative – but, I would judge, pragmatic on libertarian issues – leans libertarian but only leans.

She’s honest, very bright, articulate, attractive in demeanor, very accomplished, a very good speaker, a hard and absolutely reliable worker. She has lot’s of energy. She’s proved herself over and over again in the trenches – in real-life political and legislative warfare – in the NH Hampshire House and around the State House – as a leader of the House’s Real-Republican caucus – and you know what I mean by that.  She’s made her bones.  She needs no further vetting so far as I’m concerned.

Marilinda is the perfect candidate for fiscal conservatives.  She’s the perfect candidate for social conservatives. And, for those libertarians who may doubt her bona-fides – she will never sell the essential tenets of either the NH Constitution or of the Bill of Rights out.

She’s a woman running in what has become a woman dominated NH political milieu. Her soft side is really soft – she’s a very accomplished harpist – which is confounding to those who would try to demonize her as a knuckle-dragging right winger. She has exceptional charitable bona-fides as well. Adding up all the positives (and I can’t think of any negatives) all in, Marilinda is essentially, an accomplished Renaissance woman in a dog-eat-dog political arena. She can’t help but do well when contrasted with virtually any other candidate out there including any rising Republican star. We have a ‘WOW’ candidate running for major office in NH for a change.

Some Libertarian-Republicans will complain that she’s not libertarian enough for them.  On the subject of libertarians ‘qualifying’ political candidates, hard core libertarians will only ever get my full, undivided attention in discussions of this sort when they can point to having achieved major successes at electing individuals who conform to their own exacting libertarian standards – which, so far as I can tell, is practically nowhere. As for libertarians in NH political life, when I was first elected to the NH House in 1994, there were five Libertarian House members serving there.  After the 1996 election, only one had survived, my good friend Don Gorman. Once Gorman was gone from the scene there have been no Libertarian Party candidates elected to any political office of consequence in the state.

Contemporary Libertarian strategy was in full display in NH’s 2012 First Congressional District race where the Libertarian candidate elected Shea-Porter to Congress and once again, most recently, in Virginia, where the Libertarian candidate with the help of campaign funding from leftists (you know, ‘divide and conquer’), elected Clinton’s bag man, Terry MacAuliffe, as Governor. Democrats really like libertarian candidates on the ballot. . . . . .

I’d love a more liberty oriented world and I intend to keep nudging our social and political construct toward ensuring more liberty for each and every individual human being but it makes no sense to martyr the push for reestablishing our country’s founding liberty principles for want of libertarian perfection in candidates for office.  I have absolutely no doubt that somewhere along the line I’ll find myself disagreeing with Marilinda on some issue or policy but from long experience as her political ally – in the trenches – I doubt that any disagreement on any policy or issue of any sort will ever come close to being a deal breaker.

I’m convinced that if Marilinda can get the exposure and funding that she needs to win her Second CD Primary race she will be a formidable and an outstanding foil to Kuster next November.I expect I’ll be sending this endorsement in some form or other to others too so feel free to share my thoughts concerning Marilinda’s qualifications for public office with anyone you choose. If anyone you run into expresses any doubt whatsoever about her qualifications – have them call me for a re-affirmation of everything I’ve written here.

I’ve not been big on giving political endorsements over the years because I’ve been disappointed way too often with the way winners have often turned out once elected but I’m confident in this particular candidate and am more than willing to support Marilinda in any way that I can in the forthcoming fight.  I’m on-board her Second District congressional race for the duration.
