Maybe It is Time For Martha Fuller-Clark to Hang It Up

Not just the driving, but the legislating as well.

PORTSMOUTH — A 67-year-old Kittery Point, Maine woman who police say Martha Fuller Clark hit with her car Friday night said the state senator should no longer be allowed to drive.

“I just think she shouldn’t drive,” said Carla Dow during an interview Sunday. “I think it’s negligent to drive … when you know there’s something wrong with you.”

Dow was walking on a sidewalk along Maplewood Avenue Friday night at about 8:39 p.m. when Fuller Clark’s car jumped the curb, struck her in the back of her legs and threw her to the ground, she said Sunday.

“I didn’t know what happened. I just found myself on the sidewalk,” Dow said.

Police said Fuller Clark “blacked out,” before the accident.

This is the second time in less than two months that Fuller Clark has been involved in an accident, police said.

On Sept. 8, Fuller Clark was driving eastbound on Route 33 in Portsmouth when she drove up on a median and hit a road sign, police said.

I’m surprised I never heard that latter story.   Did someone bury it? I’ll have to explore that.

Did she black out when out of state lawyers were voting absentee from her mailing address?

We have a woman who is clearly impaired by more than her political agenda and presents a serious risk to members of the community.  Her latest victim is suggesting she is no longer fit to drive.  Given her penchant for housing out of state voters, or at least loaning them her address so they can vote for her then go about their out of state lives suggests that she is no longer fit to serve.

And all that aside, this is serious stuff.   We should pray that she seeks or has sought treatment for what ails her, and hope for the best possible outcome, which may include stepping away from driving and public office.
