Harrell Kirstein, care to comment on these numbers?

Grokster Steve’s post has Harrell trying to rewrite “cold-heartedness”:

Harrell, IBD wants to edumacate you:

The U.S. is hugely generous to those who can’t afford to pay for health care.

Hospitals spend more than $40 billion a year doing so. Doctors generously provide billions of dollars worth of free or discounted care to those who need help. There are various philanthropies that raise billions each year for charity care.  And that’s to say nothing of the existing government programs. Taxpayers fork over $415 billion a year so Medicaid can provide health care for the poor, and another $500 billion for Medicare. There’s the VA for veterans and various state-run programs as well.

So, no, the health care system isn’t now and never has been the cold, cruel, heartless disaster that the Obamas make it out to be.

But it will be one day, if ObamaCare is left to stand.

Nor is it the cold, cruel, heartless disaster that Harrell wants you to believe as well.  A Trillion dollars plus / year – and Harrell (like all selfish Progressives, for a Socialist State is nothing if selfish all the way around) still wants more and more and more of, not the money that belongs to him, but was earned by others.  Merely your playtoys that you take from, eh Harrell?  I never hear from Progressives about the real harm they do to working families.

When is enough, Harrell, enough?

What is that end point that Democrats and Progressives want the USA to be at?  It certainly will not be the US I grew up, where Freedom and Liberty, the Rule of Law, the Right to Private Property, and the full measure of Constitutional values still held sway.  It, by Progressive definition, can’t be – for almost every single Progressive policy would have to evaporate.

And if it did, yes, there would be a time of adjustment.  But that’s what happens – and while YOU might fear that time (because you FEAR your fellow citizens), I wouldn’t at all.  For you see, I think MUCH better of my fellow citizens and in the vigor and vibrancy of a renewed Civil Society.  You see, many if not most of us, know that we can good things for our families, neighbors, and fellow citizens WITHOUT needing government around to lead us by the nose.

And remember this, Harrell, studies show that Conservatives not only give more money in charity, they also give more of themselves in time when compared to Liberals and Progressives (I refer you the work by Dr. Arthur C. Brooks – “Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism
