"Asking"? The Government is really "asking"? - Granite Grok

“Asking”? The Government is really “asking”?

Kirsten Powers on Special Report (a Liberal) tonite was talking about Obamacare – the theme was that the Obama Administration was not and has not be honest with the American people as to why the new Obamacare healthcare insurance plans are WAY more expensive.  She took issue that HER plan was considered to be “substandard” by Obama even as it had every feature that an Obama “better plan” had to have

There is no explanation for the doubling of my premiums other than the fact that it is subsidizing other people.  They need to be honest about it that that’s the reason why they don’t want to change it because they are basically taking the people who are responsible enough to get healthcare insurance in the individual market and asking them to subsidize other people.  So they are taking young healthy people and asking them to subsidize other people.

Asking them to subsidize other people“.  Again, I go back to the meme that Liberals and Progressives MUST change the language, MUST redefine fundamental meanings, to have any chance at all of winning their arguments or persuade LIVs of something else other than “generalized” impressions. “Asking”  – sounds awfully polite, doesn’t it?  Sounds like it is someone that is hoping you will say yes to their request, right?  Helping other people – the RIGHT thing to do, yes?

WRONG!

This is pure sugarcoating – making something sound like it is voluntary when the truth is the exact opposite.   Government never “asks” – it demands.  Asking means the possibility of someone saying “no”; that cannot be allowed.  Asking is not demanding – demanding means that there is no choice, only coercion by force, be it a bully or by Government.  And where there is no choice, there is no Freedom to decide what is best for you, what is best for me.  In such a case, it isn’t even going along for the ride – we’re merely ATM machines for Government.  Any semblance of choice is merely pandering by those that dangle “choice” out there as a false narrative.  I get no satisfaction that I am helping people simply because someone else raised my taxes for their purpose.

I hear this in NH, too, that the NH State Senate Republicans are joining with the NH State Senate and House Democrats in “asking” us all to help others – by taking $700 million more from our kids to give to other people now.  I don’t get the chance to voluntarily help these people – and my kids and grandkids will NEVER have the choice to decide.

But it is for “the common good” – From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.  The American way used to be voluntary charity – NH State Senators have decided that we all are too dumb, too stingy to do this kind of thing.  So, they will force us to care about yet another social issue (even as they berate us social conservatives to drop the social issues come elections).

The moral of this?  Even Elected Republicans now are united with Democrats with the message of “don’t campaign on social stuff – we’ll take care of it for you afterwards.  Just don’t muss your pretty little heads about it – EVAH!
