As more information came out this week about the NSA’s hoovering up metadata and actual phone calls, globally, it was revealed that the NSA had aggressively sought out diplomats’ Rolodexes in order to harvest foreign political leaders’ phone numbers.
Several European leaders are upset, but none more so than Merkel, who was named as one whose phone had been tapped. Making matters worse, she only got lawyerly weasel-words from BarryO, who would only assure that the USA “is not monitoring and will not monitor” Merkel’s communications – nothing about past transgressions. The American Ambassador in Germany was called on the carpet so fast that it is rumored he got rug burns!
These bozos running the USA today have no clue about diplomacy and negotiations, which is why they come across alternately as weak, stupid, or boorish! It cannot end well! Reauters article on Yahoo!
